preclusion.. there's a lot of it going on... electric wizard for example... almost every song goes there.

I guess for myself I take it with a grain of salt.. it's usually mostly about the metal image and canon than anything else.. I guess you get the odd group of real sickos... but I do listen to music from a variety of cultures and spiritual roots so in some ways it's not that different than listening to an indian raga or the gregorian chant... and usually I'd say the lack of real satanic sincerity makes it more of a novelty than anything else.

lol let me know what you find though cause if they eat babies I'll stop listening.

I used to work at Best Buy, and back when Rhapsody was king, we used to pull up the craziest Metal groups across all genres we could find and blact it at night after closing.

Agorophobic Nosebleed, Goatwhore, Dimmu Borgir, Rotting Christ...

One day I was at home and put on one of those bands and I felt...iono...weird. I turned it off and never played that stuff again.

But I LOVE the sound/groove of Doom Metal, but like you said..imma be hard pressed to find one that doesnt dabble a lil bit in it...camp or not...

you know might've been worth it... I have an easier time of it with all that... growing up a white suburban atheist meant I could safely mess with almost anything.. my folks were hippies though so if anything guns and gi-joes were not that welcome... plus there's the catholic upbringing my folks had so some of that dies hard whether you practice and actively believe or not.. I'll try and keep my eyes out for groups that don't appear to mess with it much if at all... one group to check out would be Wo Fat they are a little more killer blues and a little less extreme metal but very much still stoner doom... this is my favorite album by them here.. I don't think there's anything overtly satanic going on really and if anything reading their lyrics they're on the side of good:

I figure it wouldn't be so much of a slippery slope as it would be a perilous cliff...

my favorite record buying story was hooking up with somebody in your counrty who had a copy of one of the Vanguard Chicago Blues Today series i needed to complete my trilogy... drove down to meet up and make exchange in parking lot at the side of the hwy...

then there was the time I picked up a copy of Richard Pryor's Was it Something I Said in NYC off a guy who just happened to be walking down the street with maybe a dozen records or so under his arm to sell... this after a day of serious digging discouragement spent wandering around Harlem looking for some record store some guy told me about that didn't exist.

Yeah Discogs would be the death of me... i've been sooooooooo tempted to pull the trigger tho.

Bought a couple of Prince records that I didn't know existed, and an Outkast that I couldn't find anywhere. But yeah, it will be the death of you for real. I use it for orginizing more than anything though. I got pretty much my whole collection in there, so I can check if I already have something before I buy it for the 4th time. I can also keep up with my daughter has on her "want list" (you can make friends on there) so I know what to look out for for her.

I think I saw that whole blues collection in a store in St. Augustine, FL about a month ago.

Only story I guess I got is meeting a dude in a grocery store parking lot to sell my OG Melvins "Houdini" for 10x more than I paid for it.

I mean ok that first song is what it is... lol.... but it's still kind of awesome for it's pure antagony and aggravation inducing nature

the apocalypse now bites in the 2nd track are cannon in the crew I grew up with

Hands First Flower is an amazing masterpiece of doom artistry.. this album was instrumental in carving out a space for the genre imo... at least for me.. I really love slow and dirge so when a band really commits to that I'm usually in.
