3001350, DOOM/Czarface collaboration album dropping March 30
Posted by mrhood75, Thu Feb-08-18 12:27 PM
Well, I'm a mark for both, so I'm hyped.

However, color me skeptical that this album actually drops on March 30

Also, the new song sounds pretty good. DOOM doesn't sound sick and/or sleepy. I'm also guessing this was all recorded before the tragedy in his family.

3001353, DOOM sounds so good. I don't want to hype myself...
Posted by Nabs, Thu Feb-08-18 01:37 PM
but DOOM and Deck is a dream collab for me, so it'll be hard.
3001354, Dope.

3001361, never thought we'd get DOOMDECK before DOOMSTARKS

3001386, According to past articles
Posted by Numba_33, Fri Feb-09-18 10:20 AM
DoomStarks is not only fully complete, but has been complete for about 10 years going, correct? Pretty wild to think that is the case. I think there was an old Mass Appeal Magazine article that gave a good amount of detail on the project, and I believe this is pre-dating when Nas got involved with Mass Appeal.
3001363, OH NOOOOOOOOOO! THIS SHIT IS DOOOOPE!
Posted by liveguy, Thu Feb-08-18 04:37 PM
3001364, also....I fully expect this be 3 songs MAX...if that.
Posted by liveguy, Thu Feb-08-18 04:44 PM
If it's actually a full album, I will be pleasantly surprised.

But I fully expect this to never happen considering DOOM's track record.
3001365, 16 tracks. Preorders are up. Multi-Colored vinyl, cassettes, etc

I would fully expect some fuckery from DOOM, but I feel like Eso and Deck have so much more to lose.

3001383, I still don't believe it
Posted by stone_phalanges, Fri Feb-09-18 10:00 AM
could still be a bunch of old doom beats w/doom on only 2 songs. I don't doubt deck or esoteric and 7L, but doom is like 95% shenanigans these days.
3001384, It's entirely possible
Posted by Numba_33, Fri Feb-09-18 10:17 AM
that while these songs are new to the public, they have been in the can for a while. I'm actually hoping that is the case since that'll solidify the album coming out a but more.
3001403, i'm trying so hard to be positive
Posted by Nabs, Fri Feb-09-18 05:08 PM
but yeah, anything is possible with doom.

3001385, This isn't anything MF Doom related
Posted by Numba_33, Fri Feb-09-18 10:18 AM
but it's pretty janky that you have to spend $60.00 and purchase extra crap just to get the colored vinyl version of the record. Pretty damn shady, but that's just my opinion.

Despite every reason to be skeptical of this I'ma just be the naive fanboy for now. I won't be shocked if DOOM isn't on every track and it's Deck, Eso, and other guests doing the heavy lifting, but if he can show up on like 50% of the tracks and is money each time I'll take that.

I copped the first two Czarface albums but passed on the third.

Not sure why I never checked the last one out but I’ll be checking for this one.

3001446, The MF Doom HYPE hasn't died down yet?
Posted by Dj Joey Joe, Sun Feb-11-18 06:35 PM
Seriously, people still checking for dude and his sleepy wordplay yet?

It's like seeing "new song produced by J-Dilla" these days, when I see that I say to myself, "what beat-tape track they rappin' over now?" cause they hype or excitement of it is over, there is no more out there to unearth; same with Mf Doom, he doesn't excite me, his fans will eat it up like ice cream while I felt like I got frozen diet yogurt instead.

3001452, Cool story.

3002948, I kinda get this
Posted by stone_phalanges, Thu Mar-22-18 09:42 AM
It really is like MF Doom is dead. Just about everything he has put out for years sounds like outtakes and rarities. I usually don't check for that type of stuff so it ends up being new to me, but it's like he hasn't actually stepped into a booth in 5 years or more.
3003070, Sheesh, you don't think you sound unnecessarily mad?

I never understand people like you.

Why not just ignore Doom?

I think the reference is to the lack of "presence" in Dooms work. As if he just sells old verses to people instead of actually working with people or making anything new. I have to admit as much as I like Doom, most of the projects he puts out, and his guest verses, feel like they could have been in the vaults for years.

Even this project (which I love) feels a little like Czarface just got their hands on some doom verses and assorted audio, then crafted an album around it.

the flow and lyrics, yes...but that doesn't sound like his voice at all.
3002907, sounds like him to me. the mix is low, though.

At the risk of admitting to being manipulated by Doom, This album is so working for me right now. I'm connecting to this in a way I haven't with any Doom album since Dangerdoom. He isn't on every song, and a few just have soundbites from him, but It just work for me. Czarface in general has always felt very much in a similar vein to doom so it's a very obvious collaboration.

probably my favorite this year.
3003304, Yooooo
Posted by Adwhizz, Fri Mar-30-18 06:33 AM
Listened to this on the way to work this morning, money well spent!

Doom has verses on most of the tracks, Deck and Eso each have a solo track.

I don't have the production credits, but the beats were on point.

3003553, I listened to it in car and I like it
Posted by handle, Tue Apr-03-18 05:05 PM
I like it - but in the car Doom's vocals are mixed too low.

I had no idea what Czarface was, and I thought "Hey it's Inspector Deck!" - but it turns out it's 3 guys -- one of who is Deck.

I'll listen to it on headphones this weekend but it superior now to NehruvianDoom and Key to the Kuffs. Might be better ultimately than Born Like This.

I still don't believe that Doom made that album
3003613, Hahah same. And what was up with the name change ?!
Posted by Brew, Thu Apr-05-18 09:03 AM
>I still don't believe that Doom made that album

That album has a few gems but was such a letdown overall. Just didn't feel like a Doom album.
3012565, maybe it was a label thing?

3012564, so this album completely passed me by but GODDAMN!!
Posted by High Society, Fri Dec-14-18 09:46 PM
the upcoming Czarface Meets Ironman album is how I learned of this album.

MF DOOM sounds GREAT again on here.
Deck TOO!

Hoping this does the same for GHOST!
3012694, in 98 i picked up a 12" by 7L & Esoteric.....
Posted by My_SP1200_Broken_Again, Mon Dec-17-18 10:47 PM
.....it had "Learn From the Druid" and 2 other songs ...they were solid late 90s underground tracks ..nothing amazing, but dope enough make it on Stretch & Bob (mostly Bob at the time!) ...I never thought these guys would still be around in 2018 dropping full LPs with the best lyricists from Wu Tang Clan ..im glad they're doing it though
