Red Velvet's Japanese debut single. After promoting their velvet-y (R&B) releases from Perfect Velvet, the group returns with a red (colorful pop) single for their Japanese debut. Japanese idol pop in general is pretty generic and bland to me, and Japanese songs by Korean groups are usually just as bad, but I think they came through here.

The song is very reminiscent of one of their previous singles, "Rookie," and both sport a really catchy and prominent bassline. The "hashtag" lyric is a little campy and meme-y, but I don't mind it. Aside from the bassline, I also really love the bridge with Yeri's "suuugar rush" and how Joy's distinct honey-ish vocals come in, and Seulgi's delivery of "kimi to futaridake no himitsudakara..." is great; they always do a great job of vocal sequencing.

Overall a really solid Japanese (and red) track.
