2993246, Best songs over 5 minutes?
Posted by phemom, Tue Jul-11-17 05:49 PM
Inspired by 2 long songs that sound nothing alike, but both I wouldn't wanna hear radio edits of:

Jimi Hendrix "Machine Gun" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRE3kjL3Yjg

School Of Seven Bells "Put Your Sad Down" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1bqNcdBEMc

What's your favorite long songs.....remixes & extended versions count too!

2994070, Common f. Erykah Badu - All Night Long

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-q1g3pCq3-s
2994073, I always liked that joint but felt it didn't fit the album
Posted by Anonymous, Fri Aug-04-17 10:16 AM
And it really does fit the album but I think it's one of the main fatalities of the sequencing issues with the overall album.

We all know the sequencing is all over the place but I think this song is the one that suffers the most from the sequencing if that makes any sense.

This and Making A Name always seemed like the low points of the albums. With that said, I like this joint but not Making A Name so much.
2994074, I can mostly agree with that.
Posted by Brew, Fri Aug-04-17 10:24 AM
That whole middle portion of the album is definitely a mess. This song coming right after Hungry, one of the hardest lyrical songs of that time period ? And right before the Stolen Moments series ? (Stolen Moments' sequencing being a mess all its own, btw).

Yea. I love All Night Long as a standalone song cause it's just such a cool, jazzy song but I agree that it suffers due to its placement on the album.

I think Making a Name... is insane lyrically (Canibus' second verse is wild) but yea - doesn't really fit the album at all.
2994075, RE: I can mostly agree with that.
Posted by Anonymous, Fri Aug-04-17 10:53 AM
I think there beat to Making A Name is very weak compared to the rest of the album.

Also that hook...smh
2994078, HAHA agree with both points.
Posted by Brew, Fri Aug-04-17 12:48 PM
Beat was pretty subpar for sure and LOL at the hook comment. So bad.
2994091, that's some shit I would take off of the reissue lol
