I think this show was designed for music nerds (or, The Lesson), but if they want the doors to be open to casual music fans, they need someone who can be their avatar, if you will.

She's the one who seems most likely to fit on traditional radio (makes sense, given her career), and I'll admit that for that reason she can sometimes come off as annoying when we're in our deep nerd tunnels, but she's necessary and adds to the conversation in a unique and important way. I think in time it will get even better.
