"Following news of the arrest, Gibbs' management told Complex in a statement that "Freddie will be fighting the extradition request as these are nothing more than trumped up charges," while Gibbs' manager Ben Lambert shot out two tweets this morning, saying in no uncertain terms that his client is "100% innocent."

LOL - Like what else is @lambolambo going to say to public about his client. Perhaps his manager should have been aware of charges to begin with or the possibility of extradition and sorted out his "not-guilty" client before hand.

zero cred to the poster named 'FappyHeet'...

If they really do know the girl(s), they believe their story....not a shocker.

Not much news.

What bugs me out is why would a celeb need to take anything when there's literally thousands just giving it away WILLINGLY.

He's certainly guilty of bad judgement at the least...

To what degree remains to be seen...

Rape is a horrible act, but false allegation of rape is even worse.

We'll see how it shakes out.

of course there's varying degrees of how bad it can be, but every human has some mental issue, whether minor or major. look at Cosby. why would he do that or have to, because he has a mental issue that's worse than most of us will ever experience.

2967397, ???
Posted by liveguy, Thu Jun-09-16 01:52 AM
Rape is horrible....it truly is...

Being falsely accused and unjustly prosecuted of rape (or anything else for that matter) is just as bad.

Both scenarios are INCREDIBLY fucked up, so I'll make a slight rephrase and say 'just as bad' instead of 'even moreso.'

I shouldn't have worded that to play one against the other....wasn't the intent.

Either case is terrible for the respective victim and I feel true empathy for them both.
2967398, nah, you should probably just go on ahead and kill yourself.
Posted by shockzilla, Thu Jun-09-16 03:02 AM
2967399, wait..falsely accusing and/or convicting someone innocent is..ok?
Posted by liveguy, Thu Jun-09-16 03:40 AM
That's not even in the slightest bit 'okay', man.

That's all I'm saying here....

Just like rape is horrible and is not okay
Just like murder is terrible and is not okay
Just like any other crime against another human being that you can think of is absolutely NOT okay.

IMO, criminal charges of equal amount should be immediately brought against anyone that falsely accuses another if/when it comes out they were knowingly/purposefully lying.

Interestingly enough, after hearing about that Stanford fuckers slap on the wrist, I happened to hear the story about Brian Banks for the first time.

Brian was fortunately exonerated of a false rape charge after 5 years of served prison time and 5 years of parole. 10 years gone due to a lie.... but how often does that occur where someone falsely accused *and convicted* of a major crime like rape, murder, etc. gets back the life they knew in some capacity?

It's still plenty of unfortunate people serving time for shit they didn't do. Whatever their case is, it's an absolute travesty of the justice system that it occurs.

Again...that's all I am saying here....

In my mind the evil that would drive a person to take/violate another person without consent and scar the mind and trust for the rest of the victims life, is the same evil that would tell a bold face lie on another person and have their entire life, reputation and livelihood as they knew it dashed away for whatever fucked up reason that person decided to make up and stick to that lie in the first place.

NO WHERE in my comments am I downplaying rape or rape victims AT ALL, and I want that to be CLEARLY understood....

For anyone that took it as such, my sincerest apologies as I did not mean it like that in the least bit.

And even with the ridiculous way you came at me, peace be unto you.

Done here.

charged with heinous crimes. Leave Hollywood out of it because that gets too damn messy, and maybe by leaving Hollywood out of it you leave names like Mike and Ike out of it, but still...

there are enough stories of artists with decent followings fucking it up by being the terrible people they sing about. I remember when I was younger and into that somewhat pop-punk somewhat nu metal scene how weird it was the singer of Lostprophets was not only an accused but convicted rapist.

I love Freddie's music. I think I'll continue to love it. But it will be very weird to do so if all is found to be what it is. I can't even read about it right now.

Three years ago I worked or Conor Oberst when he was accused of rape and it was an entirely baseless accusation that brought a lot of stress on everyone but the rapist and the rapee because neither existed. These situations are never easy for the people that eat off another person's plate nor the people who just took a seat at the table.

I hope for this woman's sake she isn't embellishing and that she gets the justice she's seeking, but I hope for Freddie's sake there's some evidence that casts doubt on his guilt. What a weird position to be in.

Regardless, this puts Mablib in an interesting situation since Gibbs is his business partner and all.

2967430, slick rick shot his cousin for exhorting him numerous times
Posted by justin_scott, Thu Jun-09-16 04:32 PM
attempted murder is NOT rape. Plus, it was actually understandable why Slick would be driven to that. Michael Jackson never raped, murdered, or molested anyone, so not sure why you brought up his name. If you've seen me bashing Maxxx over the years, you'd know i HATE Rapist Kelly.
2967432, RE: slick rick shot his cousin for exhorting him numerous times
Posted by fontgangsta, Thu Jun-09-16 04:39 PM
>attempted murder is NOT rape.
no, its not. some would argue its worse. you're attempting to take a life. if you had been successful, thats it. theres no coming back from that.
i dont really have an opinion - they're both unimaginably awful - i dont see the point in arguing about which is "worse" - just playing devils advocate.
but if you're willing to write someone off for rape, you should be willing to do the same for attempted murder IMO

>Plus, it was actually understandable why Slick would be driven to that.
so heinous crimes are cool as long as you understand their motivation?

>Michael Jackson never....molested anyone
debatable

>If you've seen me bashing Maxxx over the years, you'd know i HATE Rapist Kelly.
fair enough

my point is just that its a slippery slope. if you want to disavow an artist for their actions, cool. if you don't want to support them in the future, i get it. But for me, even if Gibbs is convicted of rape, sure, that would make him a piece of shit. But its not gonna stop me from bobbing my head to his tracks when they come up on shuffle.
2967443, RE: slick rick shot his cousin for exhorting him numerous times
Posted by Nick Has a Problem...Seriously, Thu Jun-09-16 06:27 PM
In some cases I can see why a person could be driven to murder another person. I've never been able to say "oh I can see why he raped her". Not once.

I never knew many details about this case but after a few days I got the feeling he was getting Oberst'd.

As important as it is that society takes sexual assault allegations seriously these days, it's equally important that we don't immediately assume the accused are guilty. As someone who's worked and hung out with a celebrity accused of a sexual crime they did not commit while in a committed relationship, I've seen the harm that can bring on a person socially and mentally.

I'd like to see the evidence that was put forth in this case but I haven't sought it out thoroughly.

Yes, it's very good.

Not sure exactly when these songs were written and recorded.. before or after his time in jail, but his voice definitely has more of a pained/strained sound to it.. It sounds more weathered and cracked, but it definitely gives his music warmth whereas before he often sounded very cold.
