2951589, my picks Posted by johnbook, Sun Dec-06-15 07:56 PM
Bruce Springsteen Al Green's "Take Me To The River" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGD8aQ2GKr0 REASON: He's most likely there to promote his new box set for THE RIVER.
Jeffrey Tambor Beck's "Crystal Clear (Beer)" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6BkifX53kY REASON: It has to do with Tambor being in TRANSPARENT and I thought of something being "clear", which lead me to one of my favorite Beck songs. I covered this for a Beck tribute CD in the late 90's, it's an acoustic song but feel free to change the arrangement to spruce it up. The first two verses are fairly easy: "Plastic doughnut, can of Spam There's no kindness in this land Better not let my good gal catch you here She's gettin' all juiced up with a bottle of plain-wrap beer
Coffee clothing pasted on Clean my gravestone when I'm gone And you better not let my good gal catch you here She's got a whole pile of things you don't want to hear"
Yes, the song is as goofy/weird as you think it is, which is why I like it, that and the fact Beck refers to Spam, and you all know how Hawaiians loved their canned meat. Feel free to give the song a bossa nova feel to it a la his "Tropicalia" or something.
Yes, I realize my suggestion probably makes no sense, a "why in the hell are you choosing this again?" but I do it just to see if it happens. Bonus points if you can get Taylor Swift to sing along to this.
