2932040, Setlist from Jay-Z 'B-Sides' Show - 5/16/15 (Terminal 5, NYC)
Posted by The Analyst, Mon May-18-15 09:55 AM
Anybody else go to this shit? Excellent setlist. Crowd was hype, Jay's performance was strong. Never thought I'd hear the Dynasty intro or Hovi Baby or A Million and one Questions/Rhyme No More played live at this point. It was broadcast on Tidal so there's probably a rip floating around the web somewhere.

He also brought out Beanie Sigel, Freeway and Bleek for a couple joints. Probably biggest reaction of the night was when w Sigel rushed onto the stage to spit his verse from You, Me, Him and Her. (Jay Electronica and Jeezy were the other cameo appearances.)

Dynasty (Intro)
Young, Gifted and Black (S. Carter mixtape)
Pump It Up Freestyle (S. Carter mixtape)
Streets is Watching
Friend or Foe
Where I’m From
Say Hello
Tidal Freestyle
Politics as Usual
Guess Who’s Back
Show You How
Jigga My Nigga
Hovi Baby
22 Twos
U Don’t Know
A Million and One Questions/Rhyme No More
So Ghetto
D’evils
Murda Murda
This Can’t Be Life
Party Life
Success
Ignorant Shit
Grammy Family Freestyle
Takeover
You, Me, Him and Her (w/ Memphis Bleek, Beanie Sigel, Young Chris, and Neef)
What We Do (Freeway)
Clique
We Made It (w/ Jay Electronica)
Exhibit C (Jay Electronica and Just Blaze solo)
Go Crazy (w/ Young Jeezy)
Who Dat (Young Jeezy)
Can I Live
In My Lifetime (Remix)
Feelin’ It
Imaginary Player
Dead Presidents (OG version)
It’s Like That
Never Change
Blueprint (Momma Loves Me) (acapella version)
Allure
Public Service Announcement

That's one hell of a show. Gotta give it to him. I've seen him do a bunch of those songs but I would love to see Murda Murda live.

>Murda live.

He actually spit that over Snoop's Murder Was the Case beat, which they went into at the end of D'Evils (which obviously makes sense because of the sample on the hook). He may have done the 3rd verse of D'Evils over that beat too, I can't remember for sure...
2932047, the setlist is worth the price of admission

2932055, The footage is out there...GREAT show...
Posted by ChampD1012, Mon May-18-15 11:42 AM
he should take this on the road at smaller venues...
2932075, This is fabulous.

I saw him last January here in DC, it was my 9th time. It was fun, but I told my wife after that show I thought I was done with Jay-Z concerts; he knows what works and he sticks to it (PSA, 99 Problems, Big Pimpin etc)

But this Tidal show I would gladly pay for if it came to town.
2932110, feel exact same way.
Posted by High Society, Mon May-18-15 05:31 PM
I've seen him about 6 times in 4 states.
After last show I was like I've seen it all now really.

But next year is 20th Anny of RD.

You know he saw Nas go on the road for Illmatic.

He's def doing that.
Hopefully he enjoyed doing some of these cuts and would
satisfy his customer base by doing some of these songs
because he knows that people buying tix are there to hear RD.
2932087, Enjoyed watching that on Saturday night

2932112, i watched the YouTube rip and
Posted by A Sizzle, Mon May-18-15 06:10 PM
Casted it to the big screen. Turned it up and had a ball. Great show. He seemed really into it. It must've been nice to do songs other than the usual top 40 hits. I'll probably watch it agin some time this week... Unless they take it off of YouTube.
2932115, link please

made us love Jay in the first place
2932123, this
Posted by Kosa12, Mon May-18-15 07:51 PM
When I heard Hov was doing a b-sides concert I thought, "he is literally doing a b-sides concert?" then I looked at the set list like o.0, but yeah I like that he did a concert that isn't the usual hits so I'm all for stuff like this
2932129, man they could call this KingdomComebackStrawberryLetter#23Bubblegum45
Posted by Bombastic, Mon May-18-15 08:30 PM
if this is the set list, I'm in all day.

But I get what you're saying.
2932128, this shit is so SICK + the acapella about the Tidal backlash was perfect
Posted by Bombastic, Mon May-18-15 08:26 PM
the joy people seemed to be having in rooting for that flop was odd (or should I say, 'normal').

Bet against Jigga at your peril tho, he's gonna pull that shit off.
2932133, BEST and WORST performance?
Posted by Starks dunked on Bulls, Mon May-18-15 11:10 PM
Best = You, Me, Him, Her

Worst = Clique
2932573, Hovi Baby and U Don't Know got me hyped
Posted by topaz, Fri May-22-15 09:29 AM
2932584, Hovi Baby was epic
Posted by 13Rose, Fri May-22-15 10:35 AM
I was on my couch bugging. Spitting lyric for lyric.
2932134, I watched the live stream from start to finish
Posted by guru0509, Mon May-18-15 11:29 PM
it was amazing just from my tv...no lagging no glitches etc...hd blah blah

i got goosebumps when i heard the dynasty intro.

i hope this bsides shit becomes a trend.
2932189, More cats should do it
Posted by 13Rose, Tue May-19-15 12:33 PM
Homeboy Sandman did a show like this and he wanted to only songs that had no videos. He would post on face book which songs he was working on to get to memory. It was a dope show. In the end he did a few (maybe two) that had videos but great show.
2932138, This is great & frustrating...Jay clearly still can rap...
Posted by IslaSoul, Tue May-19-15 12:31 AM
I need him to go back to the flow that made him so lethal.
2932190, Speaking of which could you imagine a Nas B-sides show?
Posted by 13Rose, Tue May-19-15 12:34 PM
The Lost Tapes joints. Clue Tape freestyles. MY GOD!
2932213, His shows are already kind of like that though...
Posted by The Analyst, Tue May-19-15 03:08 PM
Last time I saw him (last summer) he basically just ran through a "The Best of Nas" set, where it was a verse or two each (sometimes just a hook) from all of his classic material.
2932244, If I ever saw Nas perform "The Foulness" I might have a heart attack

2932271, agreed
Posted by Kosa12, Tue May-19-15 11:36 PM
that song is fucking amazing
2932290, pretty neat. show is so long
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Wed May-20-15 08:38 AM
i've been watching in like 20 minute blocks at a time.
2932310, When the Bully Came out...
Posted by TR808, Wed May-20-15 11:30 AM
I almost lost it...this concert was great.... !!!
2932332, fock!
Posted by dafriquan, Wed May-20-15 01:50 PM
that was an amazing show!

i didn't expect beans to show up...lol

say what you may about jay
but the man's got a catalogue

i might sign up for tidal for two months just to make up for not paying for this shit...lol

jay-z can store ALOT of verses in his head. spit the whole shit with no hype man to prompt him. Nas tends to forget his own lines too often. I wish he would practice more.

2932352, When Bleek missed the lines
Posted by 13Rose, Wed May-20-15 03:32 PM
Man I wasn't even mad at him. I jumped ahead right along with him. Jay had to bring him back. Expert work right there.
2932371, lol...he also lightweight checked jay electronica
Posted by dafriquan, Wed May-20-15 06:06 PM
for not finishing his verse before he passed the mic.

jay-z also played a good hype man to jay electronica.

>Man I wasn't even mad at him. I jumped ahead right along with
>him. Jay had to bring him back. Expert work right there.
yeah when I used to perform, i instinctively knew where i was in a song based on the beat
so even if the record skipped or i missed a line, i would just jump in from the right spot.
used to bug me when a rapper would re-rap a line he missed...and then the chorus comes up under him while he's still rapping the verse and catches him off guard...lol

2932414, Yep same here
Posted by 13Rose, Thu May-21-15 09:09 AM
Doing Hip Hop Karaoke once this cat was doing Who Got The Props and was drunk so he started forgetting lines and just blanking. I ran on stage and jumped in right on time because the beat kept me in sync. Good to see Jay on top of his game.

He did check Jay Elec who honestly at this point really REALLY needs to build up his wind. His breath control is horrible.
2932340, what a trip down memory lane...kinda sad/awesome at the same
Posted by Hellyeah, Wed May-20-15 02:20 PM
damn time

i wonder if jay still has a classic in him
2932377, He doesn't.
Posted by Brew, Wed May-20-15 08:47 PM
>i wonder if jay still has a classic in him

The sad thing is that we're getting old haha. Jay not having what he used to is just natural life shit. I ain't mad at him. Just know that his time has passed.

>The sad thing is that we're getting old haha. Jay not having

>Just know that his time has passed.

You might be right in that he may not have another "classic" in him that would capture the zeitgeist like The Blueprint or The Black Album did, but he's certainly still capable of making another great album.

You've had people like Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Paul Simon etc. release excellent and critically acclaimed albums very deep into their careers, so I don't see why Jay-Z, Nas, Andre3000, etc. can't do the same thing.
2932455, definitely. he's too concerned about his brand to try tho.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu May-21-15 01:29 PM
2932469, Not even that. He's not hip anymore. Also his boasts can be fact checked
Posted by micMajestic, Thu May-21-15 02:54 PM
now, because he's a legit business man.

"Lost 92 bricks, I had to fall back"
It's like damn, sounds implausible, but Jay is ill like that who knows.

Now it's
"I own a basketball team"
Well.... you owned a very small percentage of a basketball team.

It's just not going to be as hot.

Also consider the fact that his boasts aren't impressive to the people in his social circle. He's got a ton of rich friends now. So he might say something that would wow a broke, relatively uncultured fellow, but some of his wealthy friends might have experienced those things he boasts about their teens.

Let my love slide in and never slip out
2932426, oh he's got it goin on again to yall now, eh?-Eddie/Boomerang
Posted by rdhull, Thu May-21-15 10:38 AM
2932462, It's probably better for my health that I've never seen PSA live.
Posted by JFrost1117, Thu May-21-15 02:32 PM
Even when I see it on Fade to Black (is that on blu-ray yet), my arm hairs stand up.
2932608, Setlist looks amazing; need to watch it this weekend
Posted by Ishwip, Fri May-22-15 12:27 PM
I would pay an exceptional amount of money if he toured off this and stopped by AZ!

I don't like the beat anymore because its just a loop. ALC didn't FLIP IT ENOUGH!
