Seeing as though most of them are not publically acknowledged for everything that they have done.
Fest has def. had some truly high profile contributions though.

I'm surprised I haven't heard cats barking about Common saying a rhyme that someone else wrote part of.

'cause I do think Glory deserved it's praise despite the reaction I've seen before and after. It causes feelings.

But Rhymefest's actual music (often because of beats, sometimes because of rhymes) is just there. Which is weird considering the number of FANTASTIC songs he is a part of.

Conyay is full of ghostwriters & ghostproduction, and this isn't the first or last time Conyay will use Rhymefest (or Consequence) for writing, he finds people who mesh with his music even for just a voice.

Notice the circles of people he chooses to work with, the same kats and they work with each other cause of that too, nothing new if you are paying attention.

Why ghost write? Is he getting publishing or something? He's not listed as a songwriter so hopefully he's getting pub. Otherwise he's getting screwed, right? Break down the advantages of ghost writing for me.

I'd say up front money and publishing on the back end would be the reason/advantage in ghost writing/writing for others.

On the Academy Awards site they just have Lonnie Lynn & John Stephens. As long as Che getting his paper it's all good. Not sure how much he wrote but I am a little disappointed in Common if he's rapping somebody else rhymes.

This idea of co-writers needs to change imo...

literally every genre utilizes them.. shit so does rap... if you have the guy who wrote Jesus walks available then you def bounce ideas off him for these types of songs..

The Ye camp is a wealth of ideas from what I've seen..

I haven't been IN the room but I know 85% of the camp and have worked with them in some capacity...

What I assume happens is cats create an environment to be most successful in. That means the right people in the room.

Sometimes those people just have a conversation with you that leads to ideas necessary to complete the song. Sometimes those cats are there for editing and fact checking. Sometimes cats are there to rephrase lines or give you an alternative way to say it so it comes off.. funnier, more powerful etc... or they may be there to fill in the blanks on your overall idea.

Whatever he did he got the credit he deserves and that's what matters..

Call is white validation all you want but that man is being awarded at the highest levels for his artistry and because of that he can feed his family.. well

the OP suggested that Fest is the greatest GW ever because he has a Grammy and an Oscar for his efforts, which some of us would contend with because artistry is the last thing that goes into consideration for these things.
I'm not invested enough in awards to care, but it seems to me that's the part he took issue with more than it was the Oscar itself or what it can do for someone's career.

I wouldn't say the greatest writer, but he is definitely top 10.
Been a fan of his music, even in the early WHPK days. Good to see he is still putting in work even if behind the scenes.

When I first I was confused looking at the liner notes for Box In Hand on Iron Man and Street's name is there even though he's not on the track.

You always hear Meth and Street on the same Wu tracks, and Street was his hype man, so I always wondered if Street ever ghostwrote for him, (just once?) but I never confirmed it.
