It was the r&b flavor we're used to from him. At the time, he was saying that
he was a punk artist, at heart, and was just doing the r&b thing at the urging
of his label/management, etc. "Plum" is still that jam. The title track I absolutely love, to name a couple.
I thought it was a great album. Someone up there said it was "grooveless"\
which I think is the worst way to ever describe a Van Hunt album, because he
just doesn't make music without grooves. Even his punk has a funky feel to it, imo.
