2857254, Is Eminem really the biggest selling artist of the New Millennium?
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Thu Nov-21-13 10:26 AM
I heard him described as such in a Sasha Feres Jones review. That's crazy. Hard for me to believe since I personally haven't enjoyed anything he has done after his first two LPs.

I wouldn't have guessed it.

I guess I wonder who the competition is though. Adele?

2857323, don't matter if you didn't like it. Encore sold 9 mil worldwide in 9 months.

then he took five years off and came back with an album lacking any true blue radio single material (I guess "Crack a Bottle" got way bigger than it deserved to) and sold five million worldwide.

Believe it or not, Eminem is one of those artists that some folks grew up on and will listen to no matter what. Sometimes in favor of listening to almost anything else.

Grammys, oscars, all industry awards he got big sales, d12 even sold a few records and he made cake off of 50 and them.

he got fans deep over the past 15 years where you been?

i can't stand that White boy too tough musically because aside from a few things i find him vastly overrated, though he can spit.

but yeah man he got embraced on trl,bet and every other place in between.

Isn't it kinda early to start crowning artists of the millenniums?
I mean, there are still more than 900 years left for someone to outsell him.

2858724, It's the strangest thing.

He is the most successful artist working in a subversive way that I have ever seen. When you really try to put a handle on the vast subject matter of his writing....the lane he carved out in a 'cult of personality' type of way that he ran with from Tupac....

and then remember that he was the biggest pop star of the 00's....

It hasn't happened before. His lyrics are far superior to the only other subversive pop act that he could possibly compared to....The Beatles. But his artistry is entirely encapsulated in ONLY his lyrics, his writing. There's really nothing to him other than that.

And he's the biggest selling pop act (or anyone else) of the 00's.

It's an anomaly. He's an anomaly. The whole thing is just strange. People say it's because he's white. Hahaha. People wanna know what he is gonna say. It's a cult of personality with real heart and soul in the writing.
2858732, just means you haven't been paying attention.
