2857193, For me... Posted by johnbook, Thu Nov-21-13 12:44 AM
...it would be a toss-up:
El Chicano-Viva Tirado Black Sabbath-Embryo
While there are others in mind, I clearly remember hearing "Viva Tirado" and "Embryo" as a kid. Also, the "Gypsy Queen" half of Santana's "Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen".

2857243, The Sound of Philadelphia Posted by lonesome_d, Thu Nov-21-13 09:05 AM
My grandfather gave us a 45 with this on one side and Gonna Fly Now on the other. I was probably 5.
Still have a soft spot for it even though that's not really where my later music interests would take me.

the theme from the peanuts specials. that left hand piano riff is still riduculously catchy when I hear the song today. the melody is so deceptivly simple too
it's undeniable

2857290, if I can ignore the brief lyrics, Pink Floyd - Shine on You Crazy Diamond Posted by Nodima, Thu Nov-21-13 12:00 PM
If I can't, the only other possibility that comes to mind is the Beatles' "Flying" but I have little confidence that's true.

2857352, bahda ba ba ba ba bop (c) earth, wind and fire. Posted by Joe Corn Mo, Thu Nov-21-13 02:59 PM
all the instrumental joints on "all 'n all" and "open our eyes" split my head wide open.
i'm assuming this doesn't exclude stuff like TSOP theme from soul train and other instrumental theme songs from television shows.
EWF were the first songs with no words that i actively listened to.
