the latter I certainly believe, he had the goods as a songwriter there isn't a doubt about that for the former, there's a big difference between going commercial and having a hit

I have no clue what you just said, but it seems like you said that you should expect to shoot for some sort of success if I'm right about that I'd say you should shoot for success no matter what you're doing, no matter what level you do it on but that's not the same as trying to be a megastar, plenty of people have been successful without all of that and it's exactly where they want to be both artistically and industrially

it's also a method of getting your music heard by more people than you would normally, and your worth as an artist isn't determined by how many hits you have Drake has more #1 hits than Marvin Gaye, by your logic he's the better artist because he has more "money tracks" per Billboard
