...people like Quincy Jones and Phil Spector to use another example pretty much became big names in their own right which wasnt really the case with other producers working like that. I mean, none of the Atlantic or stax or Phillysoul producers are big names like that in spite of their input and you could take a guy like Willie Mitchell who was amazing and did the Al Green stuff, hes not a household name like Quincy but only known amongst music nerds.

Basically, people like Quincy and Phil Spector earlier were extremely good at self/promotion and hyping themselves up which most producers didn\t do, instead they chose to play the background and be behind the scenes. I don\t think that should be neglected in terms of why they are perceived differently...
