he's more like a movie director
he makes songs for different reasons and for different audiences. Also he's not one dimensional... he grew up in the church, so obviously when the moment requires a spiritual song/s, he'll make it. He grew up in the streets of chicago, when he wants to write about the struggle, he can. He loves women... from his mama to strippers, he wrote about it. He loves Hip Hop, so he'll use it when he's in the mood.
all um saying is, it's hard to find other musician's in the history of R&B/soul who've SUCCESSFULLY shown this much versatility. And like any artist, it's okay not to like some of their work... it doesn't mean they aren't good/great
had he made "I believe I can fly" 5 albums over, I'm confident many would complain about that too. I really enjoy his evolution.
