2841003, Anyone checking for the Sting or Mark Lanegan albums?
Posted by imcvspl, Mon Sep-16-13 08:14 AM
I'm kinda ichin' for a older male vocal album to get into this fall. The David Bowie album just didn't do it for me. I think I like Lanegan's voice more, but Sting has a habit of surprising me.

despite being about 12 or whatever.
2841016, what's he talking about though

I've been interested in that album for a minute but not quite in the mood to take a chance yet. I'll probably get to it, not sure it'll fit this bill though.

Talks a lot about introspective stuff, the blandness of contemporary living, having little to no prospects in life and not really caring about that — and yet, despite all that, finding hope in human interaction, regardless of how positive or negative it may be.

Wonderful guitar sound, as well.

2841190, I'd rather hear Tony Bennett sing standards

than that ol' "paint drying" music Gordon is cranking out.

As a Police fan...nothing is more fascinating that Sting becoming more and more irrelevant to his core fans.

He's ready for his ubiquitous "Little Mermaid 2" Disney Anthem.

Dude is on his 60s. I don't expect a punk fire from him at this stage. Plus I'm a fan of his solo work. Granted, his 80's and early 90's solo works but still...

2841115, Love both Sting and Lanegan...BUT...not what they've become.
Posted by supablak, Mon Sep-16-13 02:00 PM

I mean Sting is just ONE Disney Soundtrack Movie Ballad Away From Being SO DEAD TO ME!

and Lanegan...outside of "the Winding Sheet" and his Screaming Trees stuff I just haven't been able to care.

I wanted to like this Elvis/Roots record...but it just ain't gonna happen.

I liked the first King Krule ep more than the new record (for what it's worth).

I hear you, I need some schitt "I" can relate too.

2842092, Oh he's priming us for his "Rod Stewart" 3rd act

I can see a song about "fracking" with M.I.A. & Natalie Merchant after he gets a Tony Award ™ on his album with the Roots.

That's not even cynicism,yo
2841249, its been 20 years since i last cared about a Sting Album

and I ain't madd at him because really what else does he have to prove?

he had a Successful great Band and a Great successful Solo Career and a resepcted artist and songwriter and he peaked long ago.

somehow I'd like Sting to do a Diet with John Mayer or with Michael Mcdonald with a Steely Dan vibe to it.
