Posted by Oak27, Tue May-21-13 02:29 PM
Here are some albums I'd put ahead of a bunch on that list:

50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Tryin' (How is this not even in their top 10?)
Jay-Z - American Gangster
Talib Kweli - Eardrum
Q-Tip - The Renaissance
El-P - I'll Sleep When You're Dead
Mos Def - The Ecstatic
Ghostface - Fishscale
Masta Ace - A Long Hot Summa
Cage - Hell's Winter
2807100, Get Rich Or Die Tryin' was 2002 n/m
Posted by meeatt, Tue May-21-13 04:43 PM
2807110, You're right, except the part where you're wrong
Posted by Oak27, Tue May-21-13 05:35 PM
It was 2003.
2807030, Whoa, #9 in front of Nas is gonna piss some folks off ASAP
Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Tue May-21-13 02:32 PM
(Didn't even mean the pun)
2807036, RE: Whoa, #9 in front of Nas is gonna piss some folks off ASAP

...A$AP Rocky over Nas, lol...a mess on so many levels...
2807365, sounds like a fucking problem
Posted by okaybowler, Wed May-22-13 02:36 PM

2807045, Live. Love. A$AP, MAYBE

Horrible...somewhere DOOM, EL-P, Aesop Rock, Q-Tip, Master Ace and a few more are laughing...
2807038, Ah, forgot to include Madvillain in my list.
Posted by Oak27, Tue May-21-13 02:46 PM
I always associate DOOM with England not NY.
2807042, RE: Ah, forgot to include Madvillain in my list.
Posted by spidey, Tue May-21-13 02:59 PM
...I don't even have a list, but that ish is just too funny..."Jesus Price Superstar"? I am a fan of Sean P, but "JPS" really? His solo jump off is much stronger...The only project out of the 10 they listed that I would consider in that time frame is the Nas joint...
2807046, Madvillian is a Cali album. proeduced by Lib and ...
Posted by astralblak, Tue May-21-13 03:12 PM
recorded in LA
2807047, its a good list, BUT
Posted by astralblak, Tue May-21-13 03:15 PM
i'll Sleep When You're Dead and Cancer Cure are better than anything on that list.

also Tip's Renaissance

really surprised Complesx didn't give GRODT the #1.
2807216, RE: its a good list, BUT
Posted by spidey, Wed May-22-13 02:20 AM
...all truth...
2807067, ............lol
Posted by Kosa12, Tue May-21-13 03:52 PM
2807078, Monkey Barz should replace Jesus Price Superstar. GRODT should
Posted by micMajestic, Tue May-21-13 04:14 PM
replace Beg For Mercy, especially when you consider Young Buck was 1/3rd of G-Unit at that point in time.
There are really people out there that think Jesus Price Superstar is better than Monkey Barz? Interesting.

Blue Chips & Grief Pedigree but no Fishscale? No Cuban Linx 2? Interesting.

It's not the worst list ever though.

even though i think Blue Chips is borderline great, its the "I'm not old and i like new rappers pick", just like ASAP was.

Posted by My_SP1200_Broken_Again, Wed May-22-13 09:24 AM
...nobody mentioned Pharoahe Monch either?
2807359, RE: Shit... Mr Complex album shits on most from that OP list
Posted by spidey, Wed May-22-13 02:23 PM
YES...Monch is that cat....
2807371, Desire and W.A.R.?
Posted by astralblak, Wed May-22-13 03:01 PM
they are def not better than most albums mentioned
2807449, RE: Desire and W.A.R.?
Posted by spidey, Wed May-22-13 08:31 PM
definitely disagree...but to each their own...Peace is the word...
2807148, shit now that you brought it up
Posted by astralblak, Tue May-21-13 08:14 PM

2807327, grind date>this list
Posted by Kosa12, Wed May-22-13 12:39 PM
2807145, Nas should have been 3, Marcberg should have been 4
Posted by atruhead, Tue May-21-13 08:09 PM
and G-Unit shouldnt have made the list
2807150, Seems fucked up having Rocky but not Biggavelli
Posted by mrshow, Tue May-21-13 08:20 PM
Not positive which Max release I'd throw in there though.
2807161, does he have a difinitive project
Posted by astralblak, Tue May-21-13 08:55 PM
or was it just his wave in general that everybody bit
2807209, Nope which is the problem...
Posted by mrshow, Wed May-22-13 12:59 AM
His mixtapes were a collection of jacked beats and original material so it feels weird putting it on the same list as something like Purple Haze.

but his reputation seems to be growing every year. I could imagine someone writing a pretty great book on Max in a decade or so.
2807332, i've listened to about 20-30 Max B songs over the past 2-3 yrs
Posted by astralblak, Wed May-22-13 12:51 PM
i'm not a fan, but there is no denying how much his style has been borrowed/bite/jacked by quite a few new rappers (and established artist).

its been so interesting to see who has had their style influence the rise of the internet rapper. Max, Lil B, Bone

yeah his life story would def make a good book
2807212, I like that A$ap Rocky album more than I ever thought I would...
Posted by mrhood75, Wed May-22-13 01:44 AM
...but it doesn't belong on that list. However, I'm not surprised that it is.
2807225, Don't really get wy they didn't go with LiveLoveA$AP
Posted by mrshow, Wed May-22-13 04:17 AM
I highly doubt Rocky will ever top those first five songs.
2807269, lol wheres Ace, GangStarr, De La, Doom, Ghost, Rae etc....
Posted by My_SP1200_Broken_Again, Wed May-22-13 09:20 AM
2807271, Forgot that Pretty Toney was post-2003 as well
Posted by Oak27, Wed May-22-13 09:25 AM
I actually prefer that over Fishscale on most days. Either way, both belong ahead of most of those albums on the list.
2807325, Gang Starr???
Posted by astralblak, Wed May-22-13 12:37 PM
.
2807461, The Ownerz was summer 2003
Posted by DJR, Wed May-22-13 09:59 PM
And it's definitely better than some of the albums on that list.
2807329, which DOOM lps would yall place
Posted by astralblak, Wed May-22-13 12:41 PM
Madvillainy? in my opinion, that's a westcoast LP. if it counts its number one!
King Geedorah? that's def top 10 for me
VV? i personally, never really dug that album
VV2? unlike most i enjoyed this one
MM... Food? top 20, maybe
Mouse & The Mask? ...
Born Like This? top, 30 maybe
2807330, Super Chocolate Black Simion is top 10 for me
