2780863, we BACK on that grime shit. who is still listening?
Posted by double negative, Fri Feb-22-13 04:17 PM
been listening to a lot more grime again.

Im convinced that some of the best beats are coming from grime right now.

Rinsefm got me back in the game and I love Sian Anderson's show and Sir Spyro's show.

At this point I could really see some US/UK cross over happening. I want to hear Chief Keef over grime beats, I want to hear 2Chainz mashups. (and i know 99% of people here are going to disagree...)

Even though some say grime already happened and the ship has sailed I get the sense that the creative energy is still high.

anyway, some shit thats been keeping my ears open:

^^^

Darq E Freaker's been on my radar since Tempa T's "Next Hype."

I haven't heard much else recently.

Trim was the last Grime artist I followed pretty frequently.
2780884, darq e freaker's 3-d mix is dope as well (link)

2780883, Footsie - King Original album dropped this week
Posted by dustin, Fri Feb-22-13 04:54 PM
All of his old school beats.. If you ever listened to older grime sets some of these should sound familiar. it's crack...

Here's a set Footsie & D Double did recently, it's all Footsie beat from this album and some beats from Rude Kid's new EP as well
www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3rl766lIcs

Now that I think about it, Footsie has been killin it this year and last. Zoot Break EPs 1 & 2, this album, Spookfest (BANGER), a new NG ep this month. Several singles in-between.

Besides that I've been listening to a lot of bloodline: Big H, Bossman, Prez T. I think their shit is best enjoyed via sets and youtube freestyles cause that crew (and grime artists in general) tend to hype up releases for YEARS without dropping em

I'm lazy about checking out new grime artists though. Sometimes I browse the grime subreddit: www.reddit.com/r/grime

slightly amusing this video won Best Video at the MOBO's when they made it for £80. But that deejay looks like the boxer Ricky Hatton for real.

just that quite a few artists that came up in the scene went pop/edm, though now some are kinda coming back to their grime roots. plus with afrobeats coming to be more dominant in the uk (well, london) club scene over the last few years & a lot of grime raves getting shut down, it's like grime didn't have as many places to get the music out there or something. but it was still going is now having a bit of a resurgence.

this isn't new but the beat is SO hard:
krept & konan f/JME - boy better play dirty

wiley - on a level

fekky f/ JME, Chip, Kano, Jammer, etc - still sittin' here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgL6AcixfuA

this was huge last year:
meridian dan - german whip
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNnrW54xPaY

it's true, grime is best listened to in a black tinted out VW golf lol. and honestly...i aint really interested in hearing most US rappers on grime beats.
2921268, I still love that Merdian Dan track...peep my sig
