first official single off Born Sinner.. what you guys think? adding Miguel will attract some listeners just off the strength of the Grammy's..

it's a typical J. Cole song.. but i'm curious to hear what else he's cooking up.
2778343, cole dropped a 5 track EP the other day.

it was fucking boring.
2778365, ^

He's boring in general. Clearly talented but no "it" factor.
2808298, RE: ^ I agree

Yeah, Cole can get boring but he has talent. I root for him. This does sound like a Kanye West Track though.

I found it dope with tons of replay value. Laid back but not boring unless you're trying to
party to it... which would just be dumb.
2778362, here's the problem with being a ghost writer...
Posted by PROMO, Thu Feb-14-13 02:38 PM
i'd rather just hear Kanye doing this song.
2778366, Hahaha yes. This. Exactly.
Posted by Brew, Thu Feb-14-13 02:43 PM
And the frustrating this is that I *want* to like J Cole. On talent alone and the way he approaches his topics and stuff, he's right up my alley. He just bores me to tears.
2778446, yeah...he's kind of paint by numbers
Posted by Stadiq, Thu Feb-14-13 04:57 PM

I don't know how to describe it exactly...because I feel like I should like him a lot more than I do.

But its like each track is a checklist, really rigid, and ends up boring.

I actually think had his entire career started 4 or 5 years earlier he'd be dope...but

his sound is dated in a strange way (not a good way)

2778578, zzzZZZZZZzzzZZZZZZ

2778580, J. Cole just is not good at singles lol

2778605, damn, okp really is the twilight zone

this is his best single yet
2778615, eh, this won't sniff Can't Get Enough or Work Out

in terms of mainstream radio play.

But that's just my opinion.

I agree that he tends to whiff with his singles but I think that's because he lacks appeal to most of middle america. i'm beginning to realize the only people who like J Cole like hip hop. Zero cross-over potential and too boring for most. To me, he's in the category of rappers i like and want to win but just won't. his lack of success is why a successful Stalley project will ever see the light of day.

Oh yeah, I remember when Curren$y was "boring" and "couldn't make a single" but he found what worked best and embraced the people that liked his music. Cole needs to get out under Hov unless he just wants to get paid.
2808229, you was wrong my nigga its okay
