It really happened. Long story. Some promoter (white dude) flew Jeru out to SF to do a show right when he only had "Come Clean" out. Jeru did the show, I guess played not very long...like 15-20 minutes or something. The promoter had apparently fronted him a blunch of $ and didn't feel like Jeru put in a decent show so the promoter called him out on it in the media...

Fast forward a bit to a Gang Starr/Jeru show in SF....Jeru supposedly confronted the guy and punched him.

I didn't see the first show...but I was at the Gang Starr one...so I'm pretty sure the skirmish happened.
