2766451, bep - joints & jams was one of the most fun hip-hop songs ever made. Posted by bavid dammer, Tue Jan-01-13 06:37 PM
real talk. this song should have 10x bigger than it was in 1998. but it was like 5-6 years too late.

2766452, the video mix was dope. Posted by ninjitsu, Tue Jan-01-13 06:39 PM
pity the rest of that album was sub-par native tongues-lite.
|
2766454, they definitely picked the right songs to be singles if i remember right... Posted by bavid dammer, Tue Jan-01-13 06:41 PM
everything on there aside from fallin up and joints & jams was dull. i only listened once though.
edit: i think it may have been more pharcyde than native tongues but they were pretty close anyway...

2766583, Add Duet and we may agree Posted by Sleepy, Wed Jan-02-13 12:03 PM
It wasn't bad per se, but it just doesn't stand out at all. And I own the album.

completely disagree. beats-wise, that was one of the most innovative hip hop albums ever. TONs of quality live instrumentation, funky as hell, and fun (though not super complex) wordplay. hard pressed to find a hip hop album with that amount of live instrumentation these days.

2766462, agreed. Posted by astralblak, Tue Jan-01-13 07:07 PM
And unlike most on this board I enjoyed those first two albums
|
2766463, most people seem to think that those early albums were good. Posted by ninjitsu, Tue Jan-01-13 07:09 PM
they were not.
|
2766464, can we agree that joints & jams was a top to bottom dope single? Posted by bavid dammer, Tue Jan-01-13 07:12 PM
dope beat, dope hook, dope verses... a super-fun record. it would have probably been more impacting in 1992/1993 but it was still dope nevertheless in 1998. i.e. better late than never.

2766466, i agree with you 100%. Posted by ninjitsu, Tue Jan-01-13 07:24 PM
