everytime i hear somebody start rapping with that pattern (and you KNOW which one i'm talking about) it kinda makes me wanna murder. forrilla.

there are the exceptions, but overall...i can't stand it.

2721442, It really depends
Posted by PCProductions, Wed Jul-18-12 12:08 PM
Most of the time rappers inject it with the intent to impress his listeners with his "advanced" flow. I think usually it feels forced, but sometimes it works, I guess. Roc Marciano does it sometimes, and I usually approve of when he does. But for the most part I agree. I wish people would stop trying to impress their listeners and just say something instead of relying on a silly cadence.
2721443, love the Memphis/Three 6 style
Posted by Nodima, Wed Jul-18-12 12:15 PM
Freddie Gibbs does a good job of it. Bone Thugs over do it. I can't completely tell if I enjoy Tech N9ne's because his beats always suck.

3-6 is largely terrible to me. i wish i could write music notation in here, but their 1&2&3&fo flow irritates the shit out of me more often than not. *shrugs*

Really sweet lady

Doc screenings all around the west coast and even up in Canada were selling out, packed to the walls standing room only which shows how regional the style is cause I went to the screening in NYC on 34th and there was like 12 people :(

2 of them were my dudes from Grandgood and I think I saw a couple rappers like Elucid up there

But yeah I'm telling you I used to hit the blowed every week and everybody was doing that style it took on a life of it's own

that's what people wanted to hear and that's how people wanted to rap

i think his versatility, coupled with his voice is amazing.

actually, i don't think i *really* consider what he does to be double-time it's more rapid-fire, non-stop...his shit is straight 16th notes with accents...like a paradiddle, whereas the MCs i don't really care for a little more syncopated/rhythmic with it.

i don't know if i'm making sense to anyone except myself here...LOL.

i like what i like tho and Busta gets a lifetime pass. i really don't care if what he said in that Chris Brown remix made sense or not, lol. that's my dude.

as far as the actual lyrics..

It's like talking fast to somebody your trying to con or hustle, flurry them with words so they won't catch thats it's all bullshit..lol.

Alot of that stuff is sounds bouncy on the surface but if you real the lyrics like someone pointed out earlier, it be some real basic, "cat, hat , bat" shit..

Sometimes..

Im DEFINITELY NOT talking about Twista though..that dude is seriously the best fast rapper ever. He doesn't just spit fast just for the sake of it. He actually says some shit content wise within the flow, it's coherent and makes sense, clear and precise, the train never goes off the track..

2721713, Twista is incredible.

which is saying something. the beats were really airy and spaced out while Dizzee was still rapping claustrophobic. It felt like an album that wanted to be bigger than it was but was constantly shrinking under the pressure. It's a cool listen in spurts, though.

I prefer the American release of M+E, it omits Pussyole but it has nice UGK and El-P remixes of two of the records on there. I played the shit out of that CD when it came out, one of the last I super intentionally bought in a store. Not really a game changer, just a really, really enjoyable rap album, barely even grime most of the time.

Because if you know ANYTHING about MC'ing you'll know that writing the same shit, same style, same cadence, over the SAME beat over and over over and over and over is quite frankly...pretty fuckin boring.

some people use sniping as a gimmick, others use it to break away from the redundance of doing the same shit. Its fun to challenge yourself as a writer, its fun to learn new styles, its fun to learn how to MASTER YOUR CRAFT!

Yall are some of the most knowledgable music heads around, yet have NO knowledge on how the inner workings of a writers mind really works. Instead of saying "I hate this, I hate that" why not try and tap into it and appreciate another part of the art form?

there's a reason why every Okayplayer artist is pretty much ignored by the modern fan...the people who ride for them are close minded as fuck. its a shame smh.

Can't trip off your personal feelings on it
Personally, I LOVE it
Can't say I love every application of it
Or every artist that uses it

Bone, IMO, perfected it in a palatable way, but now they're spotty as fuck overall. Certain songs are perfect... others are downright trash these days. .

Luda does that shit in entertaining ways and employs it as technique in his arsenal instead of a gimmicky crutch like a lot of dudes.

Royce does it in a way that's downright vicious and keeps the "head" element alive in it. Eminem? Sometimes, same as Royce, but that "Angry Pee Herman Psycho" voice thing is fucking annoying.

Crooked I is beastly with it, on some Busta Rhymes shit- and yeah, Busta goes *HARD* with it.

Tech 9, well, depends on the track, because I both LOVE some of his shit, and am completely bored on others. Project Blowed.... Meh. I'd love it accapella, but the tracks themselves always made it hard to listen to for me. Sometimes people just do this shit to the wrong beats, and that was a major issue for me with PB.

Personally, it's just another technique that adds intrigue and energy to the mix, but it depends on who, what, when, where, and how. You don't like it, well.... I feel like you've closed off a major source of dope. Do you, obviously. I just feel like it's your loss
