I don't know about the other parts of the south but I do know that we always had our own little scene. The artists from NY that broke through to other regions usually have a good plaque. Puba doesn't have one. I was one of the few kids listening to east coast shit in high school. 4,000 plus students and there was a group of maybe 20/30 of us that fucked with east coast music. Too $hort was on rap city too and I'm pretty sure NY wasn't playing his shit much.
