Mad Lion-First lp
Just Ice-Kool Vicious and Deadly, The Desolete One

Krs beats & basslines were heavy & distinct
similar to Jamaican dub

Krs is the best at blending reggae & hip hop not only lyrically but on the boards

Pete Rock is great at blending both styles in his production too

>Krs beats & basslines were heavy & distinct .

30 cops or more Black Cop immediatly pop in my head. His drums are so heavy like he is pounding the drum machine with his fists and the basslines are the phattest I ever heard

2676390, exactly

always bugged me as to Chris he didn't do more of his own production.

2676261, Desolate One for the win

2676270, Death Camp - Sleep All Day

The beat is basic thump but still nice. The hook is cool but the rapping can go. There was a video but I couldn't find it. I think this came out KRS's imprint. I probably would have assumed Kenny Parker did the track if they didn't specifically say KRS.

I never heard the whole Station Identification lp

please tell me KRS did most if not all of it so I have a reason to get it
2676414, Station I.D. is worth hearing in its entirety

I haven't heard it in years but I dug it upon release.

It had me hyped for self titled "KRS-One" that seemed to take forever to be released.
2676422, Thanks Roadblock

your original KRS comment in the other post, lead me to post this thread and the discusion has inspired me to do something Ive never done before:

I just bought Just-Ice's Desolete One LOL

Ive been mulling it over for 15 yrs lol I never heard the whole lp. I just remember the lead single which was ok at best

Traffic Ent reissued it with a bonus track "Its time I release"

Im a pretty happy camper today thanks your KRS prod comments lol
2676425, respect homie

dioe lp tho

good prod and scratchin throughout as well as Steady being Steady

my fav track is The Undertaker
2676406, his production abilities displayed early is why I can't understand

the lack of production on recent efforts.

I know he lost his budgets post-Jive so no Premier/etc type of guys are giving him heat but I still feel like if he actually bolted himself inside a studio & really *tried* rather than just churned out albums to float out there while touring.....even if it was just him & Kenny Parker.

Of course, maybe the BDP Album was like that, I still haven't given that enough of a listen to say.
2676413, you and I both lol

Im sure if he devoted some of his time self produceing it would also slow his rappin down and maybye he could meld with the tracks he produced and come up with some decent, well fleshed out concepts and lyrics instead of that run of the mill stream of conscious, freestyle stuff hes been hittin us over the head with

*hopes KRS lurks here*

Is the "BDP lp" decent tho? I just dont know what level of quality to expect from KRS anymore
