It does work both ways...(Good call)...

But.....Having been a part of of both eras I can honestly say that Riley's impact was much more of a cultural shift than a hot, dope sound...

I think Pharrell/Chad had an incredible, futuristic sound that translated to all formats of music...

But Riley had a sound that translated and fused together all of modern black culture and music in one song...His sound was blues, gospel, hip-hop, a little jazz swing and 80s synth...He did all this without the sound coming off as convoluted...

To me Riley was the more groundbreaking producer....
