I hope I'm pleasantly surprised when I hear the whole thing and figure out what the idea was.

my issue with '90s Prince was the "following whilst shedding most of what made you who you are", which resulted in a lot of uneven works. I actually like 2000s Prince way better than the '90s overall. even if there were some classic songs in the muck of the latter, and not much reaching or exceeding those heights in the former.
