IMO, when Maxx says he never got his due, I think he meant his due as a songwriter and a producer until his passing

For so many years (even now), people would credit all his post Motown success to Quincy Jones and Rod Temperton, even when it comes to songs like Shake Your Body Down To The Ground and Heartbreak Hotel, songs that had no Q or Rod involvement (Matter of fact, Heartbreak Hotel inspired Rod to come up with Starlight which turned into Thriller) It took some of the demos for people to see he wasn't just some artist who just sang songs that were given to him

I've had folks say he never wrote his own songs even though most of his biggest hits as a solo artist were written by him


I won't even go into the things Beatles fans have said or the things folks have written on Prince.org.....lol
