I never responded to my own thread.

Did everyone get what they wanted? Were you satisfied with your purchases?

Ultimately, I copped:
* James Brown reissue of “Sho Is Funky Down Here”
* Erykah Badu/James Poyser cover of “Tempted”
* Prince’s His Majesty's Pop Life / The Purple Mix Club

My go-to shop was too crowded. I came back several hours later and purchased the last copy of the James Brown joint. The guy told me the Bone Thugs joint was among the most popular joints that day. I left a little irritated because they wouldn’t let me use my punch card because it was RSD.

I talked myself out of buying "Vibes from the Tribe" by Phil Ranelin (not a RSD release) and the Prince joint but I picked up both a fews weeks later last month.

I almost copped the Sun Ra & John Cage 45/DVD set but I held off. I like the idea of liking Sun Ra more than anything. Some of my favs (see: J. Rocc, Madlib) cite him a lot but I haven’t really dug into his very expansive and frustrating discography yet. So, I held off on that purchase. I need to listen to what I downloaded before I spend money on that man. I already own two books about Sun Ra that I haven’t read yet.

Another joint I talked myself out of buying: “Return of the SP-1200. Granted, this sold out at all of my local stores but I was going to buy it directly from the Soul Brother himself here: https://trusoulnyc.com/

Then, it dawned on me: I still don’t have Mecca & the Soul Brother, The Main Ingredient or Petestrumentals—my favs by him. Gotta start there first.

I didn’t see the Fela Kuti & Roy Ayers “Music Of Many Colours” anywhere!

As an aside, Erykah cover of “Tempted” left me feeling like I could have had a V8, and I don’t even drink those. ;-(
