Either that or they're too cheap/privileged to feel like the school deserves that much money from them.

Ivy Schools have constant flows of rich people begging to give them money, so they aren't really that impressed if a rich parent donates a large amount-- only if a rich parent donates an absolute fuckton. So that only really applies to some .000001% folks.

One of the guys running this scheme had a great quote, that essentially said most kids can't get in the front door, and most parents can't access the back door. So they're all out there looking for *guaranteed* ways into the side door. That's where you get all of these fraudulent schemes-- the phony proctors, the phony athletic profiles. This also isn't even touching upon the kids who get phony extra time on the test, who have their admissions essays written for them. Anything to make entrance easier-- because donating money and/or getting a rec letter from a prestigious person or three simply isn't enough to *guarantee* admission these days.
