Is "cancelling" just when people on Twitter are mad at someone? The only definition of it I've seen in this thread is "not what happened to Asziz."

It's not having your past works of art eliminated, because that hasn't actually happened to anyone.
It's not legal consequences, because outside of R Kelly, nobody who was "cancelled" has faced any (and R Kelly already skated on his for decades.)

Again, is it just people saying they won't see Johnny Depp's movies going forward? Because I've had that policy myself for years now (mostly because I never got into the Pirates movies and as I get older I have a much lower tolerance for Tim Burton putting Johnny Depp in dumb hats and calling it a movie.)
