Posted by PG, Mon Feb-04-19 11:39 AM
weekend was good... I like a weekend... lets have more of those eh?

gotta a never ending pile of work on me now.. Monday is here.. of to those races...

i gotta knuckle under for a couple months and really get some stuff figured out... maybe not even figured out... just executed.

let's start with murdering a coffee.

*sharpens edge and exits*
13311502, im ready for the week to be over
Posted by mista k5, Mon Feb-04-19 11:49 AM
lol

im super sleepy, my sleep schedule is off now due to the trip. didnt get back in until 2 am sunday morning. woke up after 10 am and couldnt fall asleep until midnight last night.

i never want to do that drive again in one shot.
13311620, almost never asleep before midnight
Posted by PG, Mon Feb-04-19 04:07 PM
every once and a while I knock out hard and early but usually I'm hanging on because I love the night and cherish every moment away from work.

it sucks every morning though....
13311624, i try to be asleep by 11
Posted by mista k5, Mon Feb-04-19 04:14 PM
plan is to be in bed by 10:30 but usually thats the time i start slowly wrapping things up and eventually going to bed.

not sure how late i actually fell asleep but today has been rough. i would love to fall asleep right now.

i need to go grocery shopping after work so thats going to be fun.

13311655, How was the show?
Posted by sectachrome86, Mon Feb-04-19 05:36 PM
13311657, great
Posted by mista k5, Mon Feb-04-19 05:39 PM
from the concert post:

i was worried about two things for this show, the cold and the "hike" to get in. i over prepared for the cold and didnt think the hike could be too bad.

the hike is real. i had to take 3 breaks to get up there. im definitely out of shape lol i underestimated how hard this would be.

the cold was not as bad. it was a bit "warmer" than i was expecting when the show started. it definitely got colder as the night went on but i was prepared. i was sure i wouldnt be able to enjoy the show as much because i would be cold but it wasnt a factor.

as far as the actual show.....i am disappointed

that de la soul had to stop performing.

i enjoyed every second of de la soul but was seriously bummed out when they walked off stage. i was convinced they were going to come running back out. no way that was it. they really did do a good mix of big songs and songs that are just great. there were sooooooo many songs that i wish they did but obviously there is only so much time. i felt like if they just did two more songs i would have been happy. i definitely want to see them again, hopefully with them being the headliners.

atmosphere has a really good show. they definitely have been refining their show. i was pleasantly surprised by how many older songs they did. they seem to have performed every one of my favorite songs of theirs and that was only half their set (they did like 4 or 5 songs in the encore). it took me a while to warm up to their set because i was still salty the de la soul was over then two couples decided to stand in front of us in our row. once they started doing the older songs though i got back into it.

living legends also had a really good set but i am really not that familiar with their music. i think i need to check out more of it.

watsky was okay. not sure what people like so much.

dem atlas was good, i need to check out his music.

the lioness was okay.

all in all i would do it again but maybe fly instead of driving up there lol
13311661, Cool. Sorry I missed it in the other post
Posted by sectachrome86, Mon Feb-04-19 05:55 PM
>the hike is real. i had to take 3 breaks to get up there. im
>definitely out of shape lol i underestimated how hard this
>would be.

lol. I took my Dad (from NJ) to a show there last summer and there was some epic grumbling and complaining. I thought I might have to have an EMT follow us up.

>then two couples decided to stand in front of us
>in our row.

Seriously fuck these people. There's really not room for 2 people deep and its not just a big open GA pit. Theres rules to this shit.
13311665, i dont really know why they did that
Posted by mista k5, Mon Feb-04-19 06:04 PM
we werent in a prime spot exactly. not sure what made them think this is a good spot to get in front of. luckily for us they eventually made their way further towards the center but it was weird.

most of the people were pretty cool but when we first got there a girl was like "my 8 friends are sitting there" i was like oh..sorry did i bump into them??? then left space for two people lol

it was kind of weird, people kept coming and going in that spot.

something else i was not prepared for was the mud. when the show was over my shoes got full of mud in the parking lot. i still need to clean that out of the car lol
13311520, Man, I had some JOKES during the Super Bowl. Whole room...
Posted by flipnile, Mon Feb-04-19 12:30 PM
...in stitches.

Can't repeat most of them here or anywhere else online tho. IRL > The Internet.

Work week is off to an okay start. Dipped-out and found somewhere quiet right away. Been getting in early so I can bounce early too. Day's over half done, and I haven't even gone to lunch yet.
13311622, that game licked.
Posted by PG, Mon Feb-04-19 04:08 PM
so low scoring and an absolutely terrible result.
13311846, TUESDAY
Posted by PG, Tue Feb-05-19 12:46 PM
trying to resurrect some ambitions these days... things that could lead to less to gripe about on a day to day basis... we'll see how it goes... gotta take the shot though.

13311856, I’m removing some things from my life...
Posted by Trinity444, Tue Feb-05-19 01:40 PM
first up. people.
it really bothers me that my friends don’t check on me
like. my well being, how the business is going...nothing

I’ve always been one to check on folks but it’s never been returned

sounds selfish, right?

I don’t care...

happy Tuesday.

13311863, word
Posted by PG, Tue Feb-05-19 01:56 PM
I'm terrible for that... but I don't usually want them checking in on me either anyway.. just like it to be golden when we encounter each other and get the chance to share a laugh and some news... last time i saw my best friend all he talked about was work, career and retirement plans.. I seriously wasn't feeling the convo so I think it rubbed him the wrong way... then there is my other buddy, the lawyer, he just stresses the hell out of me worrying about him.. dude should have it made in the shade but he's probably the sketchiest least predictable person I know.

anyway how is the biz going?
13311871, really?!?!
Posted by Trinity444, Tue Feb-05-19 02:09 PM
you wouldn’t want a random text from a friend asking how you’re doing?
I guess...I need to start thinking like that lol

I can’t. I’m always thinking about folks.
like. I get it. Yet still...

The biz? it’s been hard work.
13311873, I got Shimmy tho...
Posted by PG, Tue Feb-05-19 02:14 PM
if it weren't for her I'd be hard up for it and probably have to change my lifestyle to avoid isolation.
13311877, damn...
Posted by Trinity444, Tue Feb-05-19 02:20 PM
perhaps, that’s my problem...

I probably need a shimmy :-)

13311879, everybody needs a shimmy imo
Posted by PG, Tue Feb-05-19 02:21 PM
even at her absolute worst she is a godsend for me.
13311883, lol.
Posted by Trinity444, Tue Feb-05-19 02:23 PM

I gotta go. I’ll check ya later homie...

Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Feb-06-19 04:56 PM
13312253, you punctuated that incorrectly.
Posted by PG, Wed Feb-06-19 05:01 PM
13312255, you are not wrong
Posted by mista k5, Wed Feb-06-19 05:11 PM

13312320, It’s an adult indulgence...
Posted by Trinity444, Thu Feb-07-19 04:02 AM
Most kids I know don’t like it.

13312427, Why not just eat peanuts then? Crunchy PB SUCKS...
Posted by flipnile, Thu Feb-07-19 12:57 PM

13312424, THURSDAY
Posted by PG, Thu Feb-07-19 12:48 PM
ducking out early this afternoon for a Doc appointment... would that it were an appointment with Dr. Claw... alas nothing so excellent... just a 'scrip refill. Canadian health care at work.

finally finished that last book I was reading - Memory Serves

http://rabble.ca/books/reviews/2016/03/power-memory-and-storytelling

damn that book was awesome and challenging.. the concepts in it are incredibly powerful, evident and honestly at once so difficult and yet obvious if not simple to grasp or comprehend.. It comes from a culture that while I have long been curious/thirsty to understand and have read several books about, has such fundamentally different perceptions and foundations of knowledge and understanding the world and our relationships with the myriad of it's composition... man I can't even talk about this and come close to doing it justice.. I am not confident that much of it didn't go entirely over my head.

next up I'm reading The Autobiography Of Malcolm X As Told By Alex Haley

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/92057.The_Autobiography_of_Malcolm_X

I have a couple more in the queue but haven't chosen which comes after Mr. Shabazz.

k.. well Thursday now.. we are almost there folks. do your thing.
13312431, you ever had jackfruit?
Posted by Trinity444, Thu Feb-07-19 01:06 PM
I’ve read X before but I’ll read it again with you. It will make for good discussion.

I’m spending the day cleaning. Mom’s coming down next week. she’s flying in and have no idea how to maneuver an airport. This should be fun...
13312433, honestly not sure..
Posted by PG, Thu Feb-07-19 01:17 PM
heard of it.. think it may have been in something I've had before... wasn't memorable if I did though.. and maybe I didn't... lol.. is what it is...

why? are you planning to do something with it?

and yeah if you want to read it too that'd be great... after that last book I'm feeling like I need to have a venue for discussion on these things where I'm not having to lay out the context from the get go.

I just started it, almost finished the forward by his son and am already struck by how little I actually know about him... looking forward to this.
13312488, the questions
Posted by mista k5, Thu Feb-07-19 04:28 PM
salary people, how punctual are you? do you take long lunches? what is acceptable? is a long lunch every day of the week acceptable?

do you try to balance out 40 hours? meaning if you typically have to come in earlier or stay later will you be more likely to take long lunches?

how can we eliminate this phrase from work? "did you get my email?"

construction traffic really gets me in a mood. just took close to a 2 hr lunch partly because of this. got to work all stressed out lol
13312543, my answers
Posted by PG, Thu Feb-07-19 10:45 PM
>salary people, how punctual are you?

usually late by 5-15 mins sometimes early.. call in if it's going to be more than a half hour (stay late and/or work through lunch to accoodate)

do you take long
>lunches? what is acceptable? is a long lunch every day of the
>week acceptable?

on occasion I do. usually only about 10mins longer but somtimes a half hour longer. no not everyday.
>
>do you try to balance out 40 hours? meaning if you typically
>have to come in earlier or stay later will you be more likely
>to take long lunches?

yes 1st about ensuring the hours are in and 2nd about managing the perception of others that my hours are in
>
>how can we eliminate this phrase from work? "did you get my
>email?"
>

I say "As per my previous email" if I'm pissed... usually I just say "I wanted to follow up on this"

>construction traffic really gets me in a mood. just took close
>to a 2 hr lunch partly because of this. got to work all
>stressed out lol
>
I've come to the conclusion that no matter how bad traffic is I find it less miserable that public transit so I consciously choose to avoid annoyance or worse.
