being afraid that your son will turn out gay is the literal definition of homophobia

everyone is hung up on the word apology but that's too broad

just saying you're sorry isn't really the point...its whether during that apology you demonstrate an understanding of the destuctive nature of your words and the underlying assumptions behind them.

I don't know if he did that back then, or even now.

I sure know that he didn't say "i no longer fear my son being gay"

which would be WAAAAAY more powerful than any apology.
