His style and flow birthed a bunch of these young dummies out there today. Too bad they don't have his wordplay and lyrical ability.

I'm stuck on "Don't Cry" right now.
13288816, Was just thinking how crazy it would be to go back to 2005 and
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Sep-28-18 08:25 AM
predict that Wayne would be more influential in the future than 50. Even in 2008 that might have seemed far-fetched. But here we are.
13288815, Mess is my theme song...the hook and first couple bars
Posted by ambient1, Fri Sep-28-18 08:22 AM
dude was in my brain

But Uproar - banger
Let it Fly is dope
Mona Lisa....................I take back any and every negative thing that I've ever said about KDot...I see the error in my ways

But yeah...Wayne drops some gems on here
13288817, What's the story with this ? Is this *brand* new or ...
Posted by Brew, Fri Sep-28-18 08:28 AM
... an album made a couple years ago just now seeing the light of day as a result of the Weezy/Birdman beef ??
13288819, this doesnt sound like it was made years ago
Posted by GROOVEPHI, Fri Sep-28-18 08:40 AM
cant be... shit is too flames
13288827, Haha word. Good.
Posted by Brew, Fri Sep-28-18 08:57 AM
13288846, my guess...it’s been...BREWing a while
Posted by Nodima, Fri Sep-28-18 10:05 AM

If you remember Young Thug’s Barter V was a reference to and protest of this album being locked behind bars, and that was a handful of years ago. I’ll bet it’s a smooth mix of old and new, emphasis on old.

There’s been too many beats that sound too new only for producers to admit they sat in a vault for a decade for me to use how fresh it sounds as a barometer.

Word yea - I kind of assumed, especially considering it has TWENTY THREE SONGS, that he did a little of both.
13288833, If Wayne decided he wanted to spend the rest of his career
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Sep-28-18 09:12 AM
rapping over only Manny Fresh beats, I wouldn't even be mad. It just sounds so right.

This is the most motivated he's sounded since Carter 3. I mean there's going to be SOME filler tracks when you've got 23, but the hit to miss ratio is still really good.

One listen in and I'd put it over Scorpion, but I might need to revisit that album, too.
13288837, dark side .. prob the first song with Nicki singing that i actually fux with
Posted by GROOVEPHI, Fri Sep-28-18 09:19 AM
13288840, i got about 6 or 7 deep before i had to turn it off

13288992, it gets better
Posted by bearfield, Fri Sep-28-18 02:03 PM
then it gets worse
and then it gets really bad

only 2 or 3 songs i actually liked and would revisit. probably the worst carter album
13288844, Very good

How's the whole being an unethical mental health professional thing going?

You still diagnosing people who aren't your patients from afar, or did you finally realize that's an unethical practice and give it a rest?

Or do you still find time to squeeze that in between stints of shaking your fist at whippersnappers for discussing music that your old, tired ass doesn't like?
13288871, really good
Posted by mista k5, Fri Sep-28-18 10:56 AM
there are a lot of great songs on here. not really any bad ones.

after one listen my favs are:
Dedicate
Famous
Took His Time
Mess
Let It All Work Out

there are 9 songs that are one notch below those.

this is what you expect and want from lil wayne. could had done without like 5 of the songs but they weren't skippable.
13288910, Mona Lisa
Posted by Paps_Smear, Fri Sep-28-18 11:51 AM
Cot Damn they killed this!
13288979, between Lupe and Roc Marciano...how the hell do y'all have time???
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Sep-28-18 01:31 PM

13288981, Most albums are about an hour long.
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Sep-28-18 01:36 PM
13289011, lol, dudes are listening in slow-mo and reverse order
Posted by mista k5, Fri Sep-28-18 02:45 PM
13289014, so you listen to an album, then go to the next album...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Sep-28-18 02:57 PM
like a CD carousel? Lol...I listen to joints for a while.
13289015, usually
Posted by mista k5, Fri Sep-28-18 03:01 PM
i more so listen to an album then go back to a playlist, any songs i really liked or thought might grow on me will go into my main playlist and 2018 playlist. i like to hear songs next to other songs i really like.

if the album is real good i will revisit it but i wont play an album multiple times in a row or even repeat songs very often. if i listen to the same album 3 times in one week that is very unusual.
13289055, yeah. time isnt going to make me like an album more.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Fri Sep-28-18 05:09 PM
maybe less, but not more.
13289061, i will occasionally find a song i over looked that becomes a favorite
Posted by mista k5, Fri Sep-28-18 05:46 PM
after further listens, or when i revisit an album.
13288994, Lupe got a new one too??? WTF. These streaming services man...
Posted by FLUIDJ, Fri Sep-28-18 02:06 PM
i tell you..
can't find shit...

13289001, RE: Lupe got a new one too??? WTF. These streaming services man...
Posted by Boogiedwn, Fri Sep-28-18 02:18 PM
That Lupe takes some time to digest - it's really good
13289003, Yeah. I just started Lupe and now I get it. I keep rewinding
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Sep-28-18 02:23 PM
It may take all weekend to get thru it.

I’m mad emotional at work. This nigga man.

About to put some house music on before I flip some shit over.

13289004, I've been burned by the "no, THIS is a good Lupe album, really" before
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Sep-28-18 02:29 PM
But this one's really THAT good?
13289006, been there, done that, have the t-shirt
Posted by Boogiedwn, Fri Sep-28-18 02:33 PM
This is good - listened to it front and back Monday - Wednesday
13289008, This is the one.
Posted by Nabs, Fri Sep-28-18 02:38 PM
one of the best rap albums I've heard in so long. Definitely worth giving a shot.
13289012, really really good, probably album of the year
Posted by mista k5, Fri Sep-28-18 02:46 PM
13289037, Thanks guys, I'm listening to it now and can already tell this is one
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Sep-28-18 03:34 PM
I know I'm going to have to sit with for a while.

WAV Files alone is . . . a lot.
13289038, soooo...no Tetsuo and Youth?
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Sep-28-18 03:37 PM
.
13289041, Gave up on Lupe after Lasers/F&L2
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Sep-28-18 03:44 PM
Clearly that was a mistake, though.
13289043, yeah...you missed T&Y and Pharaoh Height
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Sep-28-18 03:47 PM
.
13289045, both great
Posted by mista k5, Fri Sep-28-18 03:55 PM
T&Y has some songs that are nothing short of amazing.

i was in the same boat though. after lasers i was done with him until i kept seeing so much positive feedback on t&y.
13289075, Had no idea either! I’m excited now
Posted by DJR, Fri Sep-28-18 08:46 PM
Hadn’t bought anything new since Phonte, Royce, and Black Thought in the spring.
13289186, This is a really good album.
Posted by FLUIDJ, Sun Sep-30-18 02:07 PM
13289000, Thanks for reminding me I haven't listened to the new Roc Marci yet
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Sep-28-18 02:16 PM
Got to correct that
13289066, I love Marci, but I wouldn't even pay $30 for Malcolm X new album
Posted by IkeMoses, Fri Sep-28-18 06:34 PM
I'll wait til it hit streaming.
13289091, lmfao

Posted by tomjohn29, Sun Sep-30-18 05:32 PM
13288999, there's a really good 12-14 track album in here...
Posted by gumz, Fri Sep-28-18 02:14 PM
it has too much filler and too many sounds but i get why they threw it all in there. Wayne isn't doing anything out of his wheel house on here but he's in top Wayne form. i'm glad he's back working again.
13289064, Yeah, I need the illmatic edit. There's at least 10 gems here.
Posted by IkeMoses, Fri Sep-28-18 06:31 PM
13289074, Heavily enjoyed this on first listen
Posted by Adwhizz, Fri Sep-28-18 08:22 PM
although I seriously doubt I'll ever listen to the whole thing again.

Standout tracks: Mona Lisa, Dark Side of the Moon, Let it Fly

I hope they make a video for all 3 of these clips.

Beginning with that interview with his Mom was an unexpected, gutsy move.

That Mannie Fresh Produced song starts out sounding like it's going to be Wack but somehow ends up
13289086, Last rapper my old asz was excited about
Posted by wluv, Sat Sep-29-18 01:12 AM
Love Weezy.

I need to check this out
13289096, my barber just played the song where he used the G-Dep Special Delivery...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Sep-29-18 09:30 AM
beat...eh.
13289106, solid album that's about 25% filler
Posted by atruhead, Sat Sep-29-18 11:24 AM
Cut this down to 10-12 songs and to me the only thing better this year is Jay Rock's album
13289118, solid effort...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Sat Sep-29-18 12:45 PM
..cut this down to the best 10 tracks and it improves dramatically.

*skatin' the rings of saturn*

..and miles to go before i sleep...
13289278, Can someone go ahead and list the Illmatic (10 track) list?
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Mon Oct-01-18 09:34 AM
I'm make that playlist and keep it moving.

13291250, i havent given the whole album a second listen
Posted by mista k5, Thu Oct-11-18 11:44 AM
i might need to add or remove some but these are my top tracks

Dedicate
Famous
Took His Time
Mess
Let It All Work Out

when songs from the album have came on they havent held up, i would probably lower my score on the album as a whole.

songs that i have a step below are:

Can't Be Broken
Dark Side of the Moon
Mona Lisa
What About Me
Dope N*****
Hittas
Open Safe
Demon
Dope New Gospel
Perfect Strangers

if i cared enough about the album i would go and pick 10 songs from these 15
13291246, What's crazy is some songs you can hear the lean strong and others
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Thu Oct-11-18 11:32 AM
he is sharp as a tack.
