The franchise needs a reno. Idris is the perfect guy to install the new tigerwood flooring and double hung windows in this shit.

Bond franchise producer Barbara Broccoli has reportedly announced that the door is open for a black 007 in the future, once Daniel Craig completes his final outing as the spy.

The Daily Star reports that director Antoine Fuqua revealed the details of a conversation with Broccoli, in which she said "it is time" for a non-white actor to take on the iconic role.

Fuqua discussed who might be next in the running with Broccoli, who's certain the progressive move "will happen eventually", with Idris Elba a reported frontrunner for the role.

Indeed, the director seemed to hint that the actor is currently being eyed as a strong candidate, adding: "Idris could do it if he was in shape. You need a guy with physically strong presence. Idris has that.”

Danny Boyle will direct the next, Daniel Craig-starring Bond installment, with work having already begun on the script with Trainspotting scribe John Hodge.

Eon productions heads Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli called the director “exceptionally talented” in a statement, while the head of US distributor MGM said: ”We couldn’t be more thrilled than to bring the next 007 adventure to the big screen, uniting the incomparable Daniel Craig with the extraordinary vision of Danny Boyle.”

The eight contenders to be the next James Bond
Jamie Dornan, 36
Aiden Turner, 35
Idris Elba, 45
Michael Fassbender, 41

Craig revealed he would return to the iconic role last August, having previously played Bond four times: Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre.

The film is scheduled to reach UK cinemas on the 25 October 2019.

13278856, I want Elba to be Bond, but I want him to be 009.

I don't want a Black man to be shoehorned into the tradition of being an assassin for the Queen. I would like him to have his own motivations.

If its not Elba, then I am all in for Fassbender. I think he would be the grimiest Bond ever.
13278872, agree on both

The plug and play is ok but I want to have Idris' character be his own man.

Fassbender would kill this role as well.
13278901, A spinoff? Nah

I do like the idea of him as another character tho. Fassbender might be dope but Daniel Craig is hard shoes to fill for anyone. Changing Bonds motivation would be stupid.

13278979, yeah, Daniel Craig was a motherfucker

.
13279062, Daniel Craig is the greatest Bond. Its okay for us to say that.
Posted by Castro, Thu Aug-09-18 02:31 PM
But like I said, Fassbender could be Bond off the rails. Bond in a Jason Bourne world.

Idris should be a 009 smooth ass, fuck that, I'm not killing him for you, I'm doing this for Bianca type agent. Idris in a Bond story where he goes back and forth with a female antagonist would be off the chain.
13278859, i feel like they missed the window for Elba
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Aug-09-18 08:10 AM
considering the post-Craig one won't drop until like 2021 probably.

he'll be what, 48 for his first bond? how old has everyone else been when they got the role.
13278881, Roger Moore was as old as the earth itself.

13278978, and also the illest
Posted by mikediggz, Thu Aug-09-18 11:56 AM
13278980, Actually, doing the math, he started at 46. So younger than Idris.
Posted by Monkey Genius, Thu Aug-09-18 12:08 PM
But he definitely ended his run at 105.
13278983, damn, I was curious, too...
Posted by Dstl1, Thu Aug-09-18 12:17 PM
he was 57 in A View to a Kill.
13279047, aight so elba could have a good 6 year window. that's prob 3 movies.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Aug-09-18 02:14 PM
13279059, no
Posted by PG, Thu Aug-09-18 02:29 PM
he's #2
13279060, Roger Moore also said some borderline racist shit w/ Idris playing Bond

Veteran actor Roger Moore found himself in a cloud of controversy over recent comments that James Bond should be played by an “English-English” actor, as opposed to Cuba Gooding Jr. – or, it seemed, Idris Elba.

Moore, 87, was originally quoted in a Friday interview with the French magazine Paris Match, which includes a sidebar featuring Moore’s comments on the other Bond men, including Sean Connery and Daniel Craig. Moore starred in the long-running franchise from 1973-1985, appearing as Bond in seven films.

Under the header “Idris Elba, the next Bond?”, Moore is quoted as saying, “A few years ago, I said that Cuba Gooding Jr. would make an excellent Bond, but it was a joke!

“Although James has been played by a Scot, a Welshman, an Irishman, I think he should be English-English. It is nevertheless an interesting idea, but unrealistic,” he said.

A Twitter account apparently connected to Moore soon rebutted that interview, saying the comments were “lost in translation” and mistakenly taken as racist.

“An interview I gave to Paris Match implies I said something racist about Idris Elba. That is simply untrue. #Lost in translation,” the account, which is unverified, tweeted Saturday.

In a subsequent exchange with another Twitter user, the Roger Moore account said, “When a journalist asks if ‘Bond should be English’ and you agree, then quotes you saying it about Idris Elba it’s out of context.”

Benjamin Locoge, who heads culture coverage at Paris Match, defended the piece to AFP, including Moore’s quoted use of the term “English-English.”

“Roger Moore implies that it would be difficult to have a black James Bond in the sense that one cannot imagine General de Gaulle being played by a black actor and James Brown by a white ,” Locoge said.

But Moore said he was speaking about nationality, not race – that’s why he highlighted Gooding Jr. (who is American) in his answer to what he claims was the actual question in the interview: Should Bond be English?

Locoge added, “One should not interpret words as racist and the Twittersphere has without doubt got carried away a bit too hastily.”

Backlash indeed brewed online. “Christian Bale can play a REAL Pharoahe, but @idriselba can’t play a FICTIONAL James Bond?” retired champion boxer Lennox Lewis Tweeted.

“Love @sirrogermoore & he’s not a racist. He’s wrong though – @idriselba would make a brilliant James Bond,” Piers Morgan Tweeted.

Elba, 42, hasn’t publicly addressed the situation. But he has long been fan-cast as the next James Bond; and in a Reddit AMA said he would “absolutely” take the role if it was offered to him.
13279063, I honestly thought he was over 50, so he still has a good window.

13279178, lol @ you thinking 48 is old. especially these days

13278997, Why does everyone want Idris to be Bond IMO I don't see it
Posted by 81 DUN, Thu Aug-09-18 12:44 PM
He don't have that smooth Bond look. He'd make a better Bond villain prolly an Oscar Worthy one too if it was in the hands of a good writer.
13279011, Idris don't look smooth?
Posted by KiloMcG, Thu Aug-09-18 01:08 PM
13279072, there's a little more to it than smoothness
Posted by hardware, Thu Aug-09-18 02:53 PM
granted every bond is different

just seems a little forced at this point since i feel like we've already seen him be that so many times before, just not named James Bond
13279130, Has a Rugged handsome look. He’d be a good Wolverine.
Posted by 81 DUN, Thu Aug-09-18 06:10 PM
13279186, Ok got it, yall think Bond should only be white.
Posted by KiloMcG, Fri Aug-10-18 07:36 AM
13279199, Edris isn't the only black man in existence
Posted by hardware, Fri Aug-10-18 09:05 AM
13279201, for real?
Posted by KiloMcG, Fri Aug-10-18 09:12 AM
name some others that would make a better Bond. i'm not saying there aren't any, btw. i'd like to hear some more suggestions because there may be someone better.
13279371, I wanna see a black Bond, definitely think it should be someone else
Posted by 81 DUN, Fri Aug-10-18 09:37 PM
Who?.... not sure, can’t think of anyone that’s already established. I have no problem with it being a new face
13279176, Idris is smooth as can be
Posted by justin_scott, Fri Aug-10-18 02:41 AM
.
13279250, isn't Bond always clean shaven?
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Aug-10-18 11:54 AM
13279033, Dude is probably the most Sean Connerish actor out there. He's perfect
Posted by Jon, Thu Aug-09-18 01:35 PM
13279032, Holy shit PLEASE make this happen. So weird, I was just saying
Posted by Jon, Thu Aug-09-18 01:34 PM
literally a few days ago, without seeing this, talking with my wife about how dude would be the PERFECT Bond. Funny how the universe works sometimes. Hope this happens.

When I think of Bond, I primarily think of Sean Connery. Idris would fit that Connery vibe better than anyone I can think of, while making it his own.
13279203, Idris Elba as James Bond will be an instant 350 - 400 Million World Wide
