13278226, Those Beyoncé Vogue covers aren't examples of great photography :-(
Posted by lightworks, Mon Aug-06-18 02:27 PM
The one where she is holding the white sheet is better than the one with the flowers on her head but both are very subpar for such an esteemed publication and for it being the biggest issue of the year for them.
13278230, :(

13278313, His style is reminescent of the imagery of the 80's- warm colors
Posted by Castro, Tue Aug-07-18 12:02 AM
It is a different style from the ultra hi res of most contemporary work, but it will stand up well as time passes.
13278323, These pictures kinda go

He’s capturing the imperfection of imagery
Sure the front cover over white could’ve blurred the background, but why are you focusing on that over Beyoncé
Sure the he could’ve cropped the blue background closely, but he wasn’t inviting you there
Sure the golden crown could’ve been more glowy, but in her own words in the magazine she was going for something with less make up to show her side
In every shot we see lower case b beyonce ... in places we’re supposed to be looking for BEYONCÉ
The pictures go perfectly with the article

Her words
“I think it’s important for women and men to see and appreciate the beauty in their natural bodies. That’s why I stripped away the wigs and hair extensions and used little makeup for this shoot.”
13278324, HORRIBLE posting fam.

13278347, UMM YEAH HE'S NOT HATING
Posted by madwriter, Tue Aug-07-18 08:56 AM
YALL stop being so obtuse. the cover especially is a terrible use of natural light. technically the kid either did not know how to focus or something. his work which i have looked at is very much a Fader aesthetic and i think he has not found a voice in his work yet.

and some of the other images would have worked better as the cover. all in all bland bland. plenty of photographers of color in his age range that would have worked better.
13278482, I'm a lady but yes I totally agree.
Posted by lightworks, Tue Aug-07-18 12:40 PM
Crazy niggas immediately take any sort of criticism as hating or jealousy.

Niggas just need to be allowed to not like something, whether they are photographers or not.
13278358, The natural lighting is a bit strong on the cover photo
Posted by flipnile, Tue Aug-07-18 09:17 AM
Kinda washes out her face a bit.

This is a good post, lightworks.
13278472, I don't disagree
Posted by dafriquan, Tue Aug-07-18 12:06 PM
the iphone6 quality and overall composition left alot of to be desired.
but i am glad for the kid.
13278474, Agreed.

13278485, I agree. These aren’t anything special
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Aug-07-18 12:44 PM
Dude could’ve touched these up a bit but I guess this is his style.

Makes me wonder if Beyoncé forced her hand to get him this gig.

13278501, it was most likely intended...
Posted by Trinity444, Tue Aug-07-18 01:06 PM
from the snippets I read she had creative control; which means, she probably approved the final design. it captures her vision...that she's not perfect

I'm a stan tho, nigga...
13278492, beyonce is so beautiful mayne.
Posted by Reeq, Tue Aug-07-18 12:52 PM
13278500, These are good pictures
Posted by Lurkmode, Tue Aug-07-18 01:06 PM
The Op is wrong.
13278716, I disagree. The photos fit the theme of the article
Posted by Damali, Wed Aug-08-18 12:36 PM
the photos were likely meant to appear raw and untouched, even though they were likely touched up to some degree

photo shoots like this generate thousands of still images, so these were specifically chosen to convey a specific message...a peek behind the curtain, if you will

look at the fact that you see the clamps holding up the sheet in that one photo...you'd normally never seen something like that in a magazine of this caliber...just like how you'd normally never see Bey's natural hair or natural face

the cover photos and article photos fit, imo

that's what art is. you sometimes do what isn't expected...allow things to be unpolished

I love it. this kid did his thing
