Do you think they show up and just rant into cameras for 21 minutes and that’s a show?

Late night shows are 4 nights a week, but the hosts are some of the highest paid on TV. I’d venture to say Viceland isn’t paying what NBC is. But they’ve also got huge staffs, large writers rooms, etc and that is STILL an incredibly hard job that’s broken many a person.

D&M’s magic is that they are “effortlessly” funny - but most people don’t realize how much work it is to make it seem like they’re just showing up and talking. As low fi as the show is - it’s still 12+ hour days to make each episode, not to mention all the ancillary stuff (tours, talk shows, interviews, etc) to keep the brand strong.

The moral here is that TV shows are an immense amount of work and the day doesn’t end when the cameras turn off. 160 shows a year is insane - worse when you figure they’re making a fraction of what they just got from Showtime
