YES! If I paid for 2 seats and the theater is full, I'm sitting down in 2 of the 5 seats that have been saved. You can come up with 50K different wild harebrained scenarios but at the end of the road 2 of the 5 saved seats will not be available after I arrived and sit down. NO need for me to go any further with you on this matter.
