13265657, So is Nas really dropping 6/15?
Posted by Ron Burgandy, Tue Jun-12-18 11:32 AM
I must say I’m geeked about the potential of this collaboration...
13265658, yeah ye said on twitter he's excited to wake up each morning
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Tue Jun-12-18 11:33 AM
and work on the album. said it makes him feel like a kid again.
13265668, he recently said this?? as in the past week?? if so...*throws up hands*

"Get ready....for your blessing....."
13265672, seriously, from Pablo til now
Posted by Oak27, Tue Jun-12-18 12:13 PM
all of Kanye's projects have been rushed, worked on til the last minute (and some updated after release) had a mess of a release (Ye and KSG not released til late morning as opposed to midnight, KSG not having the right tracklist) with the exception of Daytona. I don't think it's a coincidence that Daytona is the only above average album out of all of them.
13265680, Nas lied if so. He told us his album BEEN done...
Posted by FLUIDJ, Tue Jun-12-18 12:30 PM

"Get ready....for your blessing....."
13265682, prolly meant the raps/recording
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jun-12-18 12:32 PM
but I bet they been tweaking high hats and snares and shit
13265725, im sure THAT album was done. Just like Push had an album before Daytona
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Tue Jun-12-18 01:29 PM
then Ye said he wanted to make an album with him personally and that was out the window
13265674, huh? Nas is a legend
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jun-12-18 12:23 PM
you really think he is going to poopity whoop a Nas project?

Whether you like the content or not the Daytona production is top notch.

Pusha aint rappin over some bullshit and while Nas doesn't have an ear for beats I bet Ye is excited to lace dude with some heat.

I will be shocked if the album isn't next level
13265679, don't forget about Oochie Walla.... I'm always #teamNas....but..
Posted by FLUIDJ, Tue Jun-12-18 12:29 PM
dude do got some rap skeletons in his closet...

I'm just scared to get my hopes up...

"Get ready....for your blessing....."
13265681, I said Nas doesn't have an ear for beats
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jun-12-18 12:31 PM

Always said if Rick Ross picked Nas' beats he would be at Eminem sales
13265683, true..true...I follow you.

"Get ready....for your blessing....."
13265890, Bro, do you know how long I've been saying that.....
Posted by The Wordsmith, Tue Jun-12-18 07:43 PM
....Nas should use Rick as an executive producer? All so that he could have a say on what beats Nas should spit over? Can you imagine what a classic album Nas would have if he spit over a number of those Ross beats (the non trap stuff)?

Since 1976
13265926, Bruh, I'm not really Ross fan but those beats.. so lush
Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Jun-13-18 07:26 AM

Rather remember Nas for Life is Good.
13265695, what if it's like Daytona?
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jun-12-18 12:53 PM
why the fuck would it be like Cudi?

That dude isn't a rapper...

KSG should be listened to with emo/synth/ionno ears.

13265697, Still be disappointed but I'd take it I guess.

13265726, KSG and Ye werent even out when people said Daytona was fire.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Tue Jun-12-18 01:29 PM
13265746, It's fine. I expect way more from a Nas album.
Posted by Brew, Tue Jun-12-18 01:59 PM
Anticipations are quite different for a Pusha release and a Nas release. To me.
13265753, Daytona was first.. and it was praised from the jump
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jun-12-18 02:09 PM
it's ok if its not for you but don't get lost in the Ye sauce
13265767, Like I said on top of getting lost in the Ye sauce ...
Posted by Brew, Tue Jun-12-18 02:36 PM
(which I really can't help at this point) I just expect more from a Nas project than a Pusha project so my point still stands.

>it's ok if its not for you but don't get lost in the Ye

Maybe Black Milk can kindly request the acapellas for this album or something.

Posted by Mr. ManC, Thu Jun-14-18 08:26 AM
No ID doesn't necessarily "move the needle" by what you are implying, but there could be a great collaboration between the 2 (though I wasn't an overall fan of the project, but it moved needles)

13266382, hmm.. a hot song, is a hot song
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Jun-14-18 08:37 AM
doesn't matter who produced it.

Definitely wouldn't get the buzz Ye gets before the album drops but a few songs by Black Milk on an album wouldn't hurt Nas at all at this point in his career.

Context. His whole verse is a stream of ironic thoughts.
13266667, In context of the verse the line might make sense....

But I just don't think that same idea makes sense in general.

13266716, The verse is still kinda confusing
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Jun-15-18 10:16 AM
"Edgar Hoover was black" is (I assume) some kind of joke, but "SWAT was created to stop the Panthers" is something he sincerely believes.

I don't think he genuinely thinks voting is stupid, but I don't think his verse worked as well as it could have.

Really dug the first track, not as much the second one, and the Slick Rick sample track was going fine until Kanye's verse. Seriously, how do you reconcile what he's talking about in that verse with hanging out with Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens?

The beats for the aforementioned songs should never make the cut on a 7-track album.

I never would've guessed that I'd like a song where The-Dream and Kanye sing the chorus, but I really like "Everything." I'd heard the complaints about the vocal sample on "Cops" but the only thing I didn't like about it was that it had a Kanye verse. It does a good job of capturing the feeling it's going for imo. Bonjour has a decent beat with a nice chorus. Adam and Eve is just classic Nas.

yes in the sense that the location and night (it was really warm last night) would have made it great

no in the sense that all footage of all listening parties just look annoying as all hell - I remember seeing some footage from like, 8 years ago for some Jay Z thing maybe and it was just people standing on couches in the club trying to stunt.

yes in the sense that I'm willing to bet most of the people there were influencers of sorts (it looked like a very small group)

no for all the reasons you mentioned. packed, phones out, seen to be seen, etc
13266837, yes.. I would enjoy being there to hear it first

don't like it as much as LIG. Probably about as much as Distant Relatives which isn't a bad thing. Just more laid back like that one and also he's in his dropping not quite accurate knowledge mode most the time which isn't the Nas I like most, still good to hear him rapping again either way.

Also, the 3 bonus tracks on LIG are better than any track on this imo
13266940, Straight Garage. The production is boring. Nas is too Cocky or lazy

He must not have a passion for this. I woulda listened to BE (Common) after this album was done too see how it compares. This album is embarrassing.Nas has two good albums.

I think it would be great if we collectively had these kinds of boundaries when it comes to people who get behind figures like Trump who are unabashedly detrimental to our community. These kinds of things tend to stop when it's understood that there's a consequence for them. If we support those who support our demise then we also support our own demise. Idc if he's doing it for publicity. Talking up racists and their Black puppets isn't the thing to do for fun. He knows better.
and that's why I didn't support "Ye" at all. No discussion about it... didn't care to hear anything coming out of his mouth.
If he wants to produce for other people, I'll listen to that... for free lol.
That's why I didn't like the song "Cops" because Kanye is on it.

I find it werid that its so easy for you all to throw away someone. we never did get a full explaination for his trump...slavery comments. Y'all took It and ran with it...to me that's way more detrimental. additionally, it proves how we as black people don't full understand the depth of mental illness.

with this in mind, nah, im not going to disregard the brother over some comments. I try not to be bias. Like. I don't care for the fact Kanye married a white girl but, as long as he continues to support black shit...I will support him. I don't have to agree with you on everything to see the good in you. Check your bias and don't question folks blackness because you never really know if you don't give them the opportunity to be heard

I've never been super huge on Nas but the fact that he realeased his shit on Tidal (some black owed shit) first, means the world to me.

I actually do agree that we don't need to throw one another away over any and every disagreement, but that's where our agreement ends, because:
1)As I stated, there should be some consequences for supporting those who support our very demise as a people. Candace Owens is *dangerous* as is Trump.
2)If someone is supporting your demise, that doesn't *need* an explanation. It needs an apology and a 180. Nothing less than that is acceptable.
3)Regardless of the issue, being it mental illness, drug use, etc... there has to be removal and rehabilitation before this person can go back among the rest of society and live a healthy life. He's doing detrimental shit to all of us, so he has to be checked and there need to be consequences for those things. Period.

>with this in mind, nah, im not going to disregard the brother
>over some comments. I try not to be bias. Like. I don't care
>for the fact Kanye married a white girl but, as long as he
>continues to support black shit...I will support him. I don't
>have to agree with you on everything to see the good in you.

Hey that's great Trin. I didn't ask about your feelings or philosophies actually, but I do share the idea that I don't have to agree with a person on everything to see the good in them. For instance, I agree with you on next to nothing, but I think your intentions are good. I also might find marrying white folks more detrimental than you do, but I think some Black folks who did so have done some good things for Black people.

>Check your bias and don't question folks blackness because you
>never really know if you don't give them the opportunity to be
>heard

1) I never "questioned his blackness" over this, and I don't know why you always say this particular bullshit to me at times when I'm not questioning anyone's Blackness. Perhaps understand what I'm saying before you respond, because this just sounds like you have a particular idea of who I am that you project onto everything I say. That said, try not to come at me like this in the future (telling me what to do based on some idea you *think* I have, telling me what I "need" to do etc as you've done before), because I see alotta naivety and ignorance in so many of the things you say, yet I refrain from telling you how to see things or approaching this way.. even when other people are dogpiling you alotta times I agree, but I don't wanna join dogpiles on you. I choose the be a better person that that. Please keep in mind that it's a choice tho.
2)Check also pt.2 above. If courts are executing innocent people in my community, I don't need an explanation. I need it to stop. If someone is supporting someone who supports the execution of innocent people in my community, I don't need an explanation for that either.

>I've never been super huge on Nas but the fact that he
>realeased his shit on Tidal (some black owed shit) first,
>means the world to me.

Well I don't think he should be killed lol. There are levels to consequences. I will say this... the Black community supported Kanye. Trump literally tried to get Black teenagers executed for a crime they didn't commit (Central Park 5) and does all kinds of detrimental things to minorities. When Kanye supports Trump, I think he deserves to lose the support of the Black community who supported him. This is just logical to me. Imo he's biting the hand that feeds him, so to speak.
By contrast, look at your boy Jay-Z... he says stuff I think is uninformed and that I disagree with, but he's not slapping us in the face as a community, so I wouldn't say there should be consequences to his actions necessarily... I'd just say he needs more education on some issues. I don't think ppl should be punished just b/c I disagree with them. Kanye wants to stand behind someone who actively seeks to harm us tho... that's deeper than disagreement.

>but yeah. We don't see eye to eye on things. I responded to

>man. I may not agree with you but I respect how you can

Well thank you.
I always give respect to those who give it to me. So you have my respect unless you consistently disrespect me. I'll even do you the courtesy of warning you before I snap lol. So yes, we're good :-)

Its been how long?

How much longer and what else does he need to do?

He either said or did these things because he realky believes them

Or he trolled for attention which is equally bad because of the platform and influence he has to spread and promote that bullshyt for self promotion.

These r real life issues that's effecting real people.

Posted by Frank Longo, Sun Jun-17-18 03:21 AM
It sounded like everything college-age me would’ve dreamed of hearing in a Nas/Kanye collaboration... but goddamn, anti-vaxxers are the WOOOOORST.

Rest of the album ranges from blah to fine. For the best song to be sullied with something so terrible— goddamn. Maybe I misheard it? I wish someone could convince me that he’s being ironic or that I missed a whole lyric in which he said “just kidding, science is actually insanely important.”
13267052, Listened to it again.
Posted by mrhood75, Sun Jun-17-18 03:40 AM
Mostly he seems to be talking about how a baby getting a vaccination is their first introduction to pain (via a needle) and the "tragedy" of not understanding where it's coming from or why it's happening, before believing that the parents would always protect him/her from anything that would hurt. The "side effects" line is definitely problematic, but otherwise I understand what he was trying to do.
13267054, have no idea why everyone is calling it an anti-vax bar.
Posted by Basaglia, Sun Jun-17-18 06:18 AM

anti-vax would be not letting the kid get the fucking shot in the first place. PLUS, it's totally different coming from the perspective of a black man older than 35, because we paranoid as shit about medicine in general, SPECIFICALLY VACCINES, because of the historical record of niggas being experiment on by "scientists"

13267062, Right. Apparently alotta ppl haven't read "Medical Aparthied"

Not even Black men over 35 but I'd say Black people in general, b/c this stuff still goes on. Frank Longo and Mr. Hood are white tho... so hey... it's not something they have to worry about like we do. It's funny watching them talk about it tho.

My baby neice has a huge bump on her shoulder from a vaccine (she will be fine). It is okay to acknowledge such things without being put in an “anti-vaxxer” box. No need for an edited album version or anything.
