because you have a president desperate for a 'win' at just about any cost.
trump is dumb enough to put all his eggs in this one basket and nk/china/russia are smart enough to use it as leverage against him.
i wouldnt at all be surprised if nk gets us to suspend military drills and even drawback some troops in the area just to get to a sitdown.
