13250950, I just cut off my hair...
Posted by Trinity444, Mon Apr-16-18 09:56 PM
I'm examining myself again. I feel like every few moths I go through "this". Some days are more difficult than others; however, lately I'm discovering more...at least I think I am. lol

When I told the children I was cutting my hair off they said not to pick them up from school tomorrow. I can't wait to pull up on them....I might yell out the window at them.

but yeah, I'm on to something. I can feel it...

13250991, no snark.. but is this really a thing with women and hair?

I get the whole "chop it off" once to go in a new direction but if you cut your hair off every few months does it have the same effect or is it just a haircut?

13250992, I feel like the hair cutting thing

is an old wives tale. I'm sure some folks are actually going through stuff and feel like changing the hair is part of it. but what about all those folks that don't cut their hair and are dealing with life?

13251003, I get it if you had real long hair for years
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Apr-17-18 08:32 AM
I had locks and after 10 years I cut them. It really felt like a weight was lifted cause they were heavy.

and it really does change how people view you if all they see is your hair.

but I feel like that’s a once every decade type thing. Not 3 times a year n
13251060, I don't know...

it goes back to why I grew my locs. it wasn't for style...fashion; yet, the realm I was in. life was different for me back then. It was like, my period of enlightenment lol. After about 10 yrs and significant changes in my life, I cut them shorter. Let it grow again...cut it shorter again. I didn't grow it again just kept the same style for 7 more years. Then I "picked" them out.

so yeah. To answer your question. I don't believe I can go in a new direction when I'm holding on to the same hair. That hair held burdens. Its becoming for evident to me that I'm no longer the same woman.

...

It didn't even cross my mind about it being snark :-)
13250993, you gonna let us see the new do?

It's been over 3 years now and I still enjoy cutting my hair back with that #1 guard comb.

I do look forward to the day that I'm in a place where having more
than a half inch of hair feels right, but at this time I just can't even stomach it.

It's too bad I "don't have the face" for it and cut off the one thing of beauty I had!
*skips off into the rain*
13251448, I can recall the feeling of not caring when I had locs...

like. not concerned about how I looked. It was such a beautiful space to be in and this past year I’ve struggled to get back there.

I feel closer now that I’ve cut the hair
13251708, back when I had locks it was so easy

I could look rough as hell and still get that "whew, look at you!" from the ladies

I showed some older coworkers (black churchy type) an old photo and they said they woulda crossed the street if they saw me. Fucking bougie asses...

only problem was the weed references from every white bro at parties.

not sure I would get the same good will overall in 2018 since locks are like tattoos, everybody got em
