Written and directed by Boots Riley tho? WOW

I'm very pleasantly surprised by that.

I always appreciate Boots' lyrical content, but I didn't feel the musical direction of the album at the time. Maybe I'll give it another shot. What's interesting is that Boots talks in the Breakfast Club interview about having the script since 2012, which is the same year the album came out.

13268036, Boots Riley, Omari Hardwick, & Terry Crews on Breakfast Club

discussing the movie. The story of its creation and the process of making it is very interesting. Boots shares what he was trying to accomplish and who he aims to address with the subject matter. Omari and Terry share their experience working with Boots and the making of the film.
Terry Crews briefly talks about the situation where he was sexually violated and the effects thereof toward the beginning of the interview.
