Lately (within the last 6 months), I've used streaming as a source to hear new music. Otherwise, I purchase mp3 albums if I'm "craving" a song or album, or just buy the CD off of amazon. I haven't done that in over a year and I miss CD digging. It was therapeutic for me.
>2) Do you usually listen to playlists? Are they based on an >artist/ several artists or more of a mood? Are they playlists >you made, where you individually picked out all the songs on >the playlist? Do you prefer to listen to music in blocks of >similar songs, gangsta rap hour, new jack swing, late 90's boy >bands, etc or shuffle and mix it up as much as possible?
I listened to a playlist once or twice and it kinda fell off for me. I didn't care enough to want more. The playlist was based off of genre/mood.
If I make a playlist in my iTunes, it's by theme. For example, i have a Soulquarians playlist, New Jersey hip hop, and a few more randoms.
>3) Do you listen to whole albums often? Mostly new or older?
I do listen to whole albums about 50% of my time. Other times I put my music on shuffle until a song grabs my attention and I start wanting to listen to the album for the overall sound/mood.
>4) How do you discover new music?
Okayplayer, my friend Justin on twitter, and the artists I follow on IG may big up a different artist's new music.
>5) What's your primary hardware set up for music? Phone and >earbuds/headphones? Car? Home stereo set up? Bluetooth >speakers? Internal phone speaker?
I had a Fiio X1 entry level audiophile music player for about 2 years and used it religiously. Then, I broke it in a rage lol so I had to suffer with my iPhone for music. The quality was low and I couldn't put all of my favs on because of the 32GB storage. I have 23k songs/300GB of music.
I exclusively listen through over ear/on ear headphones. I've owned several pairs throughout the years, but now I'm using one of my favorite headphones of all time - JBL Everest 310. I love them more than I loved my Sony MDR V6!
I'd only use buds when my hair was done or if I needed to speak on the phone - using the mic was super convenient. I don't own speakers of any kind, nor a car.
