Doing it for your own personal satisfaction is a valid reason to continue but since there's little to no financial or professional return on investment and you want to help the kids out with college, you'll just need to compromise on the school you go to and/or how fast you complete your degree.
Maybe you can find a cheaper school that will also let you complete your degree at your own pace.
