It is hit or miss on an episode to episode basis, it somewhat borders on the line of being preachy at times, and the family members aren't all equally funny, but it is definitely worth watching. The high points of the show are worth your time.

To get the fully dynamic of the show, it's worth it to watch the show from the beginning.

I'd say out of the 4 seasons there are really only 3 bad episodes and even then those episodes are bad for the writing/vision/production

even when the topic is meh the jokes usually hit.

I miss pops when he isn't on there tho...

Fishburn is hilarious on this show

1. the fucking god awful disney episode (the capitalist crossover was uber transparent)
2. Zoey college spin off episode
3. The fucking horrible, shit ass, awkward as fuck Hamilton Juneteenth shit. Alright, parts of it were good, the message was good, the dancing/singing/stage parts were dog shit however

Both of those were great. You are prolly the only one who doesn’t like the Juneteenth episode. Most people loved it.

and telling a white dude you own him will always be funny. Disney episode had me laughing. I don’t give a shit about the product placement by ABC. The jokes hit.

its a new model and the really really strong part of the show is that it routinely talks about the multifaceted nuances of blackness and when it gets preachy thats when folks catch the holy spirit, do a back flip and point at the tv while screaming "where is the lie!?"

& those bits and pieces were just what I expected

but I'll give it a fair shake.

We rarely get prime time shows so why not watch it once to see before writing it off?

still & all, point being, they ain't been able to really replicate that formula since that show went off the air
