5/10

13212029, Didn't they hire a bunch of black writers a while back?
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Mon Nov-13-17 09:39 AM
Cause there writing for black characters couldn't be worse.

13212145, Tiffany Haddish vs. Issa Rae for most annoying speaking voice
Posted by flipnile, Mon Nov-13-17 12:16 PM
They both sound like SistaGurl stereotypes.
13212154, damn
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Nov-13-17 12:26 PM
13212175, hell nawl. Tiff just sounds hell-of LA.
Posted by double negative, Mon Nov-13-17 12:43 PM
Not all black girls from LA sound like that, but she sounds LA as fuck.

aka

"Them muggs hoard c'uh"
13212189, She’s cool in movies but her stand up doesn’t impress me.
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Nov-13-17 12:51 PM
She bad tho
13212191, her stand up is super mediocre and she is bad af.
Posted by double negative, Mon Nov-13-17 12:53 PM
13212205, L.A. or not, I just don't find that way of talking attractive
Posted by flipnile, Mon Nov-13-17 01:14 PM
It's actually repulsive, like I put headphones in and listened to some jazz while my girl was watching SNL because I couldn't listen to her talk anymore. They both sound like the people they interview on the street after shootings. I'll take NE suburban black girl accent over that any day.

This is all coming from a dude born & raised in Philly, with an accent too. Only so far low I can go, man.
13212207, Lmao

>They both sound like the
>people they interview on the street after shootings.
13212214, oh funny, I love her accent. like, a LOT.
Posted by double negative, Mon Nov-13-17 01:28 PM
kinda like how NY dudes love the thick NYC accent at times

I love the thick LA "country" accent because it reminds me of people I grew up with
13212575, I feel you. It's something new to me as an east coaster
Posted by flipnile, Tue Nov-14-17 01:23 PM
>I love the thick LA "country" accent because it reminds me of
>people I grew up with

I only ever talked to one person from LA, a female rapper (on the phone). Threw me off because while she sounded really proper, there was this hood undertone to her style of talking too. Also, she was an absolute sweetheart on the phone. Makes me think there's something to west coast people being much nicer than east coasters.

Man, I really dislike the harsh, nasally NYC accent that some of the women there have. I much prefer the softer Philly and south Jersey accent. My #1 favorite is the slow southern drawl (not the fast talk like in Atlanta) or the bland midwest ("suburban") accent.
13212751, we just went to LA and my wife was like "everyone is so nice,WTF"
Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Nov-15-17 11:17 AM
its weird tho.. my boy in LA loves everything about LA but said the Black experience is weird.

everyone was cool tho.. we loved it.
13212603, Eh nah. Issa has that auto code switch L.A. thing
Posted by -DJ R-Tistic-, Tue Nov-14-17 02:20 PM
But never really sounds hood at all
13212225, Other folks slang/accents often sounds exaggerated.
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Mon Nov-13-17 01:51 PM
I remember the first time hanging out with some NYC cats my freshmen year of college and I swore they were putting on sounding like a wu-tang skit.

13212204, the cat sketch was hilarious
Posted by Dr Claw, Mon Nov-13-17 01:12 PM
13212213, I thought her jokes were funny, but she dwelled far too long...
Posted by flipnile, Mon Nov-13-17 01:26 PM
...on some jokes. Like way too long. Aand I (personally) really dislike her delivery. All that loud, hype shit just ain't funny to me. I stopped listening (put earbuds in) after that long-ass sketch about her dress. I get it, you're proud of the damned dress. ok.
13212226, Did the nae nae dance waay to many times. Her delivery could
Posted by Buddy_Gilapagos, Mon Nov-13-17 01:53 PM
use some subtlety at times.

13212295, agree on both accounts........but
Posted by tariqhu, Mon Nov-13-17 04:19 PM
this is actually what got her to snl. so I can see why she continues with it.
13212387, actually you didn't get it lol
Posted by Damali, Tue Nov-14-17 12:24 AM
being proud of the dress wasn't the point.

the point was she was gonna get every damn dime worth of that 4K she paid for the dress by wearing it as many times as possible

its a woman thing..you might not understand

i do that too when i gotta spend alot of money on something...imma figure out a way to wear that shit multiple times lol...shit even if i didn't spend alot, but its a specific thing..like a 20s flapper dress or something

d
13212302, I was disappointed. I didn't find the episode to be funny.
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Mon Nov-13-17 04:32 PM
And I turned it off. It was pretty cringeworthy.

At one point, I turned to my wife and said, "She literally did a bojangles dance."
13212384, ^^^Everything you said^^^^ everything
Posted by Duc999, Tue Nov-14-17 12:03 AM
She turned coonin all the way up-level 10.
The nae-nae was over the top as well.
When will being a walking stereotype not be hollywood's go to?
13212385, haven't seen the episode yet, but just off this thread's reaction
Posted by Nodima, Tue Nov-14-17 12:06 AM
has anyone read the pieces praising this episode for being the first good one of the season, and her the first great host of the season, and were you surprised to find that was the case?

13212412, Over all it was wack.... i did like...
Posted by KnowOne, Tue Nov-14-17 08:55 AM
The cat adoption bit. That was hilarious. And the video game bit was kinda funny at first, but it went on far too long. The rest was blah.
13212419, SNL is garbage b..
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Nov-14-17 09:09 AM
13212573, Whos the new black guy?
Posted by KnowOne, Tue Nov-14-17 01:13 PM
He seems so wack. Or maybe they just misusing him like they do most black cast members.
