since the joint is so famous and is located right in the heart of the media capital of the US then a comic like Rock knows if he bombs there it's going to be news-worthy. especially just showing up like that, unannounced.

so where are these places where comics try out material w/o it being heard by the gen pop? do they exist after all? i've heard ppl talk about them but they may not really be a thing.
