because it undercut previous standards of journalistic integrity.

however...it should ultimately go down in history as the right/necessary decision to make at the time.

just imagine how blind the public would be flying in the russia investigation if we didnt have any knowledge of the details in the steele dossier.

having the dossier as a backdrop has ironically given some subsequent reporting more credibility.

theres a reason that republicans were relentlessly attacking the dossier as an 'illegal' source for a key fisa warrant. think about how confused/uninterested everyone would be if we didnt even know what was in the dossier.
