once you get past our general apathy to voting...we just do shortsighted shit to hand over elections to republicans again and again.

like im helping work on a campaign in ny district 19 for this brilliant brotha named antonio delgado. we got a great opportunity to unseat repub john faso. theres so much energy and organization on our side. but 4 fucking left-leaning independents joined the race. all running on a platform that includes some common progressive stance (delgado doesnt support medicare 4 all because this is a rural slightly conservative district). so you know they are gonna grab some dem progressive voters. one of them is the typical green party spoiler. another is a fucking ditsy ass law and order svu actress named diane neal who is basically just running as a vanity project. she isnt even mounting a serious campaign but she has name recognition and hollywood friends boosting her.

this district hasnt had a 3rd party candidate in 16 years. but all these niggas wanna hop in the one year we actually have a chance to win smh.

and i have feeling cynthia nixon is gonna get beat in the dem primary for ny gov then stay on the ballot in the general via the workers family party. and end up siphoning votes from cuomo (along with an upstate dem running as independent too). in a year where we *absolutely* need a dem governor of ny to pass a bill closing the double jeopardy loophole so trump or his associates can be prosecuted for crimes they get federal pardons for (https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2018/04/schneiderman-double-jeopardy/558389/).

and these fucking people are hell bent on own-goaling a republican win smh.

i have no idea why we cant see the bigger picture and move maturely/strategically like repubs fam.
