that a young kid with a still-developing brain should be protected from potential damage. The kids are too young to fully appreciate the risks, and some parents do not even bother to look at research or step outside themselves to consider their child's best interests. You have to know parents who take pride in their child's athletic accomplishments or see their kid as a vehicle to right their own inadequacies as a kid.

All of that said, I don't personally judge people who let their kids play football, but it would be hard for me to criticize this perspective from a guy who studies the effects of football on the brain and who suffered tremendously as a result of his work in this area.
