I hate that this is what passes for "woke" or deep, when 47 year old Jay hasn't hit on concepts that 20 year old Pac already had figured out.

The mistake is that everyone can make it with Jay's paradigm. Buy the block or buy a Basquiat is NOT empowering. If Jay bought Marcy or Dumbo housing and then sold it for $25 million that STILL displaces poor people. Yes, he is Black, and personally would be rich, but the hood doesn't come up.

A better model for Black excellence would be saying "hey guys, pool your tax money and buy YOUR apartment buildings. Use that asset to build equity and fund other businesses so all of yall can come up".

Jay's whole steez has been "live vicariously through my success, and we all can win".
